Akame ga Kill! - Episode 24 [END]

10 Second Anime - Akame ga Kill! - Episode 24 [END] photo 10SecondAnime-AkamegaKill-Episode24END_zps0dd079e8.gif

Akame and Esdeath face off in the final episode. A new nation is forged through the sacrifice of Night Raid's members.

Geh.

All the people who needed killing, got their killing. Especially Onest. His head got beaten in by Leone Mai Waifu, without the benefit of her Emperor's Tool. I'm still mad she bled to death. Just another aspect of that Japanese ending.

Akame's and Esdeath's fight was everything I hoped it would be. From Akame having to use her trump card, to multiple fake outs, to just an all out brawl by this show's two strongest fighters.

Akame ga Kill! - Episode 23

10 Second Anime - Akame ga Kill! - Episode 23 photo 10SecondAnime-AkamegaKill-Episode23_zps25501f57.gif

In the final battle for the capital, the emperor unleashes his own Emperor's Tool. Tatsumi sacrifices himself to stop the emperor's indiscriminate destruction.

Heh.

Not much to heh about after this episode.

Wave joined Night Raid's efforts to protect as many citizens as possible from the out of control emperor. So did Ran. Wave still thinks of himself as a good soldier, while Ran wanted to change the empire from the inside instead of condoning the rebels and Night Raid's guerilla and assassination tactics.

Prime Minister Onest (ha!) still insists on qualifying the young emperor's parents' deaths as "an unfortunate accident." Even with all the mayhem, he didn't die and neither did the emperor.

We still had time for one last show of Leone Mai Waifu comforting Tatsumi.

Akame ga Kill! - Episode 22

10 Second Anime - Akame ga Kill! - Episode 22 photo 10SecondAnime-AkamegaKill-Episode22_zpsfade699a.gif

As the rebels move toward the capital, Akame and Kurome make their final confrontation.

Meh.

I understand that the main story has to move along towards the end of the season, so there's no more time to explore Akame and Kurome's past relationship, how difficult their separation was, and the events that led up to it. However, throwing in a random escaped Danger Beast for them to defeat together, though an okay solution to show how much they still care for each other and how well they used to work together, was still too contrived. The producers had to do something to demonstrate their feelings and backstory, but doing it at this late date made it too obvious.

Heh.

I entertained the idea that maybe Mine just collapsed in Tatsumi's arms, because the previews for this show are very spoiler free. But no, I was right. She died. Tatsumi had a moment to remember Mine before the hard work of deposing the emperor begins.

10 Second Anime - Akame ga Kill! - Episode 21

Akame ga Kill! -  Episode 21

10 Second Anime - Akame ga Kill! - Episode 21 photo 10SecondAnime-AkamegaKill-Episode21_zpsbf0116d4.gif

Night Raid rescues Tatsumi from execution at great cost. Mine dies in Tatsumi's arms.

Hmm.

Not much to heh about in this episode.

General Budou died because of the power of Mine's feelings for Tatsumi, so much so that it was clear she gave her life for his.

They couldn't give us one, just one, episode between Night Raid deaths?!

There was no time for Mine's happy memories before she died, because she was living her happiest ones in her last moments. In the arms of the man she loved, she made her feelings clear, they held each other close, and they kissed. No regrets, none whatsoever, for Mine. Mine, RIP.

Esdeath's feelings were clear for Tatsumi as well. Loving him so much, but disagreeing with his convictions so much, she couldn't bear anyone else killing him. It's the same twisted kind of love Kurome has for her sister Akame.

Good for Tatsumi, though. He met her sword strike without flinching, eyes wide open.

Esdeath is a monster, taking Najenda's best shots without breaking a sweat. Her trump card, still keeping with the freezing cold power, is to freeze time and space itself. Not fair. Najenda herself admitted she's only about 60 percent as powerful as she used to be due to her missing body parts and wounds.

Mine died. Susanoo died. Kurome is obviously dying from Chelsea's poison. We don't have much time left for this series, so I'm expecting even more major character deaths. Somehow, Leone mai waifu has survived through all this. Tatsumi may end up with her just by attrition.

Next up, Akame and Kurome have their (probably) final confrontation. Who else is going to die? There's just not that many characters left, and the ones who are, they've been with us since the beginning. Whoever dies is going to bring about feels or satisfaction. The Kill! in the title isn't just for the cool factor.

Akame ga Kill! - Episode 20

10 Second Anime - Akame ga Kill! - Episode 20 photo 10SecondAnime-AkamegaKill-Episode20_zps1552b2e9.gif

Lubbock and Tatsumi get caught in the capital by Shura and General Budou. Lubbock dies after killing Shura and Tatsumi is scheduled for public execution.

Heh.

The small gathering of Jaegers, only Wave, Kurome, and Ran were there in their capital headquarters, shows how high the cost of their mission to take down Night Raid has been. Not only that, even if Kurome is no longer bleeding from the wound Chelsea gave her, the effects of her poison are still working.

Meanwhile, Night Raid is smaller too, down by one from their original number with the loss of Chelsea. This makes Lubbock's death, though expected, another hard loss for the team.

Dammit, Mine's flags were love flags and Leone and Lubbock knew it. Leone has to do some S-Class big sister teasing on Mine for that.

Akame ga Kill! - Episode 19

10 Second Anime - Akame ga Kill! - Episode 19 photo 10SecondAnime-AkamegaKill-Episode19_zpsa3ba2885.gif

Night Raid successfully assassinates Bolic. Mine kills Seryu Ubiquitous, getting revenge for Sheele and Chelsea.

Heh.

I was tense watching Mine's fight against Seryu, because sometimes crazy is so crazy it forgets to die. Not until Mine was in Tatsumi's arms did I relax.

I was worried that Tatsumi was going to end up like Samson pulling the whole building down on top of him. Then Mine cut the rest of the building in half, so who knew what was going to happen?

For sure that Suzuka Rakshasa Demon person is still alive. A huge rock falling on top of a body manipulation expert isn't going to kill her.

Seryu is dead. Good. Coro died with her. Kind of bad. Dogs are only as vicious as their owners, and though Seryu was broken in the head with her perverted sense of justice, she still cared for people, and Coro.

Akame ga Kill! - Episode 18

10 Second Anime - Akame ga Kill! - Episode 18 photo 10SecondAnime-AkamegaKill-Episode18_zps390b76ba.gif

Night Raid gathers intelligence on its next target, the corrupt Bolic, but his personal bodyguard, the Rakshasa Demons confront them.

Heh.

Tatsumi has been showing his combat skills lately, but it's good to be reminded that he's still the newcomer to the world of assassins. The death of comrades may not be something to get used to, like we saw with Akame when Sheele died, but it is something that he needs to learn how to cope with during missions.

I appreciate Ibara trying to give the audience some Akame fanservice, but he totally ruined it with those weird body contortions of his.

Esdeath nurse cosplay? Helloooo Nurse Esdeath!

Akame ga Kill! - Episode 17

10 Second Anime - Akame ga Kill! - Episode 17 photo 10SecondAnime-AkamegaKill-Episode17_zps6f0f3f54.gif

The combatants survive Boris' Emperor's Tool self-destruction, but Boris does not escape Chelsea. Kurome kills Chelsea, who attempted to kill her.

Geh.

This show is brutal. Death flags were flying for several characters during this battle, but it looked like time was up for poor Chelsea. We had time for a quick flashback showing her origin story as an assassin for justice, killing her first victim in a field of hydrangeas. Bookending her career, she died in a similar place. Fingers cut off as her Emperor's Tool was destroyed, an arm cut off, and shot in the back, she wasn't getting up from those blood stained flowers. As if we needed a reminder who the bad guys are, Kurome left her head on a pike as a warning to all.

Heh.

Now we're never going to see how good looking Boris is. We've got hints about his blue eyes and blonde hair and how cute is daughter is with those traits. Of course we're going to be curious. Esdeath too.

Akame ga Kill! - Episode 16

10 Second Anime - Akame ga Kill! - Episode 16 photo 10SecondAnime-AkamegaKill-Episode16_zpsc3b8a17d.gif

Night Raid fights Boris and Kurome's undead army in a battle royal. Kurome gets serious and Boris self-destructs.

Heh.

I saw two death flags fly up, with Lubbock wanting to confess his feelings to Najenda after the operation was over, and Chelsea wanting to make Tatsumi take responsibility for her overt fighting tactics.

I didn't really hate Kurome before, but she hurt mai waifu!

With Leone's healing ability, could she grow a new arm, or reattach the severed one, or because she stopped the bleeding does she have to settle for a prosthetic? What's going to happen to her "nice body?"

Having reanimated colleagues and friends fight you can be pretty demoralizing, but not to the members of Night Raid. They've got no qualms about hacking them to pieces to stop them from moving.

Najenda has either nice aim, nice timing, or nice luck to knock her old colleague directly into the path of that Deathghoul's beam attack.

Susanoo at full power looks way more puppet like.

So is Mine the one that always gets picked up by the big beasties? At least she didn't get her arm broken this time.

Tatsumi's eyes are starting to get the same cross pattern as Incursio's eye. Is he synchronizing with it better than Bulat?

Geh.

Leone is still mai waifu, even if she does have only one arm.

Akame ga Kill! - Episode 15

10 Second Anime - Akame ga Kill! - Episode 15 photo 10SecondAnime-AkamegaKill-Episode15_zps3b1dd445.gif

Using the timing of a religions uprising, Night Raid moves to take on the Jaegers before the Rebel Army starts its campaign. Akame confronts her sister Kurome.

Heh.

New opening and closing credits to mark the new season.

Chelsea in action shows off her infiltration and exfiltration techniques by being a master of disguise. Perhaps a hint of betrayal somewhere inside the rebel army as Chelsea thinks the Jaegers had some prior knowledge of who Night Raid's target was.

I'm glad Lubbock was angry at Tatsumi for having a tropical vacation with a beautiful woman. But why is he drinking out of Najenda's cup?

Bulat's influence on Tatsumi continues, as he drinks out of a mug with the kanji for "fellow" (ę¼¢), which also means China, and is how kanji is written too (漢字). And that character is embroidered on his crew neck sweater now. Very preppy.

Continuing on with more Japanese puns, the scarecrow that Susanoo pops out of has the characters which read "pond surface," but it's pronounced "ikemen." ę± , also pronounced "chi" means pond, but the slang for good looking guy is ikemen, spelled ć„ć‘é¢. men here means face, surface, mask, aspect, while the ike comes from 恄恑悋 or č”Œć‘ć‚‹, meaning to "look good."

Leone onee-san knows how to make Tatsumi forget all about that crazy lady with whom he was trapped on that island. Oppai Suffocation!

Akame ga Kill! - Episode 14

10 Second Anime - Akame ga Kill! - Episode 14 photo 10SecondAnime-AkamegaKill-Episode14_zps823b8ff2.gif

The mysterious man transports Esdeath and Tatsumi to a southern deserted island. Esdeath tells Tatsumi about her past. Tatsumi escapes from Esdeath again.

Heh.

May as well have called this episode Esdeath ga Kill!

That mystery man following or controlling those strange monsters was none other than the prime minister's son. It makes you wonder just how many secret places Dr. Stylish had to stash his experiments.

Tatsumi is a good kid for leveling up so fast since the last time Esdeath saw him.

Akame ga Kill! - Episode 13

10 Second Anime - Akame ga Kill! - Episode 13 photo 10SecondAnime-AkamegaKill-Episode13_zpsfb40061e.gif

The strange new creatures terrorizing the capital unite the Jaegers and Night Raid in taking them down. Esdeath reunites with Tatsumi.

Heh.

Susanoo bro fisting Tatsumi about picking up chicks. Gotta love this show.

I thought the way Akame said Tatsumi's name was cute, but it has nowhere near the effect as when Esdeath says it. Young sadist maiden in love has it bad for our Tatsumi.

Kurome seems to have found a new role in comforting Wave for missing his chances at showing what a nice guy he is. Boris doesn't need his concern about people judging him by his appearance, because he's got an awesome wife and little girl.

I think Wave is a bad chess player too.

Omake Gif Anime - Akame ga Kill! - Episode 13 - Wave Bad Chess Player photo OmakeGifAnime-AkamegaKill-Episode13-WaveBadChessPlayer_zps2112a2bc.jpg

He's already castled, yet Kurome is about to get another queen with her pawn.

While Wave keeps getting his chances to show off his nice guy side blocked, Tatsumi has his chances to show off his cool guy side ruined by his own awkwardness.

10 Second Anime - Akame ga Kill! - Episode 12

Akame ga Kill! - Episode 12

 photo 10SecondAnime-AkamegaKill-Episode12_zps91097ca2.gif

Night Raid welcomes its new members Susanoo the neat freak and Chelsea the playful master of disguise in its new headquarters. A new villain stalks the capital city.

Heh.

A bunch of new characters means a bunch of new quirks to discover and a bunch of new ways our established characters play off of these quirks. Quite a fun episode.

That guy Wave is such a good guy. Well-meaning, but hardly ever gets any appreciation for it. At least Kurome noticed.

I was a bit disappointed to see Incursio fashioning the same halberd style for Tatsumi. He's a swordsman. New Death (the name of the secondary weapon) should be a sword.

To get on Akame's good side, bribe her with food!

I love it when Najenda hopes to get praise for something minor. Yes, your new Emperor's Tool is great at house chores, and building houses, apparently.  Cooking, cleaning, Lightning Fast Susanoo is your man.

Akame ga Kill! - Episode 11

10 Second Anime - Akame ga Kill! - Episode 11 photo 10SecondAnime-AkamegaKill-Episode11_zps6339f396.gif

Night Raid repels Dr. Stylish's assault on their headquarters by his collection of human experiments. Najenda returns in time with two new members to help counterattack.

Heh.

Akame and Mine are good girls because they're fighting in their pajamas, which meant they went to bed at a reasonable hour. Shame on Leone, Lubbock and Tatsumi for passing out.

Akame still had time to put on her penny loafers.

Mad scientists don't lack for ego, obviously, which is why Dr. Stylish thought he could take on Night Raid by himself and his little army of gay go go dancer freaks. Because of his miscalculation, I count at least 3 Emperor's Tools that have fallen into Night Raid's possession.

Don't you dare throw knives at mai waifu's face!

10 Second Anime - Akame ga Kill! - Episode 10

Akame ga Kill! - Episode 10

 photo 10SecondAnime-AkamegaKill-Episode10_zps2a8ea709.gif

Esdeath begins her courtship of Tatsumi. Tatsumi debates with Esdeath on their different worldviews. Tatsumi escapes Esdeath, but danger followed him.

Heh.

We already saw how similar Wave was to Tatsumi last episode, but they really cemented their twinship this time. From worrying about the strong weirdos in their respective groups, to even having related Emperor's Tools. Wave's Grand Chariot is the improved successor to Tatsumi's Incursio. Grand Chariot appears to have a similar beast occupying it, but I wonder if it is still alive like Incursio's. I can see how the improved version might not have taken into account a friendship of a sort developing between Incursio's wielder and the still alive beast within it, causing further and stronger development.

Boris admitting he was married was hilarious. And his love advice was even ordinary, even if it was heartfelt.

The rest of the Jaegers are even more insane and capable than we thought. I thought it was a good storytelling device to leave Wave's Emperor's Tool introduction to when he encountered Incursio. Also leaving Dr. Stylish's own fighting capabilities until next episode was good too. But Kurome is broken in the brain. Boris' appearance notwithstanding, he appears quite capable and balanced in how he approaches his job, as does Run.

Esdeath is just a young maiden sadist in love.

10 Second Anime - Akame ga Kill! - Episode 9

Akame ga Kill! - Episode 9

 photo 10SecondAnime-AkamegaKill-Episode9_zps090785f2.gif

Night Raid needs new members. Esdeath forms the Jaegers. Tatsumi is captured... for love?

Heh.

With Sheele gone, the show is turning to Esdeath for its shojou-in-love material? Good luck with that, although we'll get lots of uncomfortable Tatsumi humor out of his situation.

The girl members of Night Raid still blush for Tatsumi's earnestness, but not for Lubbock. Poor guy.

I got a good laugh out of Najenda flashing the "oh, you noticed how awesome I am?" smile in Tatsumi's direction.

Akame can't stop eating meat. Kurome can't stop eating snacks. They're related.

Terrible engrish aside, don't Esdeath's qualities for the perfect man also fit Wave? He seems like what Tatsumi could have been in a couple of years if the military recruitment center had room for him.

With Esdeath taking on the shojou role *shivers*, we still need a replacement duo for the yaoi jokes. Done and done.

10 Second Anime - Akame ga Kill! - Episode 8

Akame ga Kill! - Episode 8

 photo 10SecondAnime-AkamegaKill-Episode8_zps3408b6d9.gif

Bulat and Tatsumi prevail over Esdeath's Three Beasts. Tatsumi gains his own Emperor's Tool at the cost of Bulat's life. Tatsumi's introduction to the assassin's world is over and a new chapter begins.

Geh.

The dying and the killing never stops in this show. Bulat dies in front of Tatsumi, bestowing on him his Emperor's Tool Incursio. At least his death was in the middle of a fight, instead of being shot in the back like Sheele. However, the method by Liver was still sneaky, because he got him with poison (iocane powder that he had an immunity towards?) he injected into his blood. The hint about compatibility with the Emperor's Tool and first impressions wasn't if the Tool liked you, but if you liked the Tool. With how Tatsumi thinks all the Night Raid members' Tools are cool, he might just be able to use all of them. They better not be killing Leone in two episodes, because I don't know if I'd keep watching.

If all it takes for former General Liver to become the enforcer to a very odd, sadistic woman is a boot ground in his head, a peek up her skirt, and the promise of going back to army life, I'm not so sure Bulat should have been admiring his former commander.

10 Second Anime - Akame ga Kill! - Episode 7

Akame ga Kill! - Episode 7

 photo 10SecondAnime-AkamegaKill-Episode7_zps901c8edb.gif

General Esdeath begins her operations against Night Raid. Night Raid targets her squad back. Bulat meets his former commander now working for Esdeath.

Heh.

General Esdeath wants to know passionate love... The shocked looks on the Prime Minister and the Emperor were classic! The Emperor recovered quickly, even offering his close advisor as a candidate. Hah! Besides the comedic value, the little exchange shows the emperor is more than a puppet for the Prime Minister.

Aw. Akame has a soft gooey center when it comes to mourning Sheele. She explains it as turning on a switch to go into kill mode. This was a good humanizing moment for our kuudere assassin.

And then she goes back to strange cool girl chomping on Lubbock's hand when offered a Calorie Mate Block, er, some kind of fantasy land food bar in a wrapper.

Hey Bulat, why you gotta hit Tatsumi so many times while you're invisible?

10 Second Anime - Akame ga Kill! - Episode 6

Akame ga Kill! - Episode 6

 photo 10SecondAnime-AkamegaKill-Episode6_zps2bfabb1c.gif

Night Raid conducts another mission, Sheele and Mine get caught up by Seryu Ubiquitous. Sheele dies as she ensures Mine's escape.

Geh.

I didn't want to believe it. When Sheele got shot in the back, I thought she still had a chance. But then Coro bit her in half, and all I could think was "no, no, no, no, no..." Why didn't she just kill that Seryu girl when she had the chance? But she made the choices that fit her personality, including going back to Coro to save Mine's life, and using her Emperor Tool's trump card to allow Mine to escape. Sheele, rest in peace.

10 Second Anime - Akame ga Kill! - Episode 5

Akame ga Kill! - Episode 5

 photo 10SecondAnime-AkamegaKill-Episode5_zpscb2ad037.gif

Tatsumi learns of Sheele's background when she takes on training duties. A powerful general will come back to the capital to target Night Raid. A young imperial officer seeks revenge on Ogre's killer.

Heh.

We learn a little more about how the Emperor Tools work, and the most important thing is that the Tool must be compatible with its user. Also, a user can only use one Tool at a time, since they kind of "choose" the user.

Najenda makes bad puns. Well, nobody's perfect.

Also, all the girls of Night Raid like to eat a lot of meat. Hurr.

Sheele is the epitome of the megane airhead. The only time she isn't clumsy is when she's intent on killing someone. Otherwise, she's so clumsy she has no other duties at the Night Raid headquarters, because she causes more problems instead of helping.

Don't mess with Akame's meat.
