10 Second Anime - Toaru Kagaku no Railgun S - Episode 24 [END]

Toaru Kagaku no Railgun S Episode 24 [END]

Action! Chokepoints! Mecha vs. Mecha! Nerd Slap! Railgun doing her Railgun thing. And a happy end.

There were some nice surprises for how the Railgun girls and their friends dealt with the plans of STUDY. They may have neutralized the official police force of Anti-Skill, but they didn't count on the entire student discipline squad of Judgment to come and keep the 20,000 robots bottled up inside the conference center grounds. Throw in dozens of espers to take out their share of robots, plus a couple of Level 5's in the football stadium to take out the bulk, and STUDY had to go to phase 2 awfully quick.

They brought in bigger mechs, but Kongou's papa lent her a brand new toy, piloted by their own video game crazy Level 0 in Saten. Whomp whomp, double nerd defeat. Also, the communications jamming that STUDY liked to do? Taken out by ad hoc telepathic network. Superior strategic planning by Uihara and Mii. And trying to use the 4th ranked Level 5's meltdowner power on the 3rd ranked? Nerd please. That Meltdowner lady was not too happy about her powers being copied by a couple of robots, so ITEM finished off the rest.

That diversion let Mikoto and Febri into the command center awfully quick, which forced megane-douche to go to the suicidal-blow-up-the-town final plan. Oh, and instead of being there to watch his AIM Diffusion Field Fission missile explode, he decided to take the coward's way out too, by shooting himself in the head. Wait, he tried that with a metal gun in front of an electromaster? I thought he was supposed to be smart. Here's what Mikoto thought about having to save his life too.

10 Second Anime: Toaru Kagaku no Railgun S Episode 23

Toaru Kagaku no Railgun S Episode 23

Mikoto escapes STUDY by showing them what a real level 5 esper can do. The Railgun girls prepare the battle space with a little intelligence gathering. 20,000 robots? Mikoto knows some little sisters who can even the odds.

The whole motivation for this STUDY plot was because the old man in charge of the Level 6 project with Accelerator called the dude's chemicaloid plan a "summer school project." Academia. Where the smallest slights can change whole worlds. Megane-douche forgot, or never appreciated, that the level designations for the people with ESP was not just raw power, but also the intelligence to use it. In the Sisters arc, we saw that Accelerator's real power was doing billions of vector calculations in real time, and using that ability with his ESP power of changing the vector of any force. He was only stopped from creating a big ball of planet destroying plasma by the Mikasa network using the windmills to introduce random variability so he couldn't compensate for the random fluctuations in the atmosphere. And look at how Mikoto escaped their clutches even while paralyzed by a neurotransmitter blocker: by using her own knowledge of biochemical electrical grids to control all her neurons. You couple ESP with genius IQ, and you win. That's why megane-douche had a half-baked proposal. It doesn't matter if someone without ESP is controlling an artificial AIM-diffusion field. It just doesn't beat the years of living and breathing the stuff you made yourself.

Anyway, we know megane-douche is going to lose, but the Railgun girls still have to make sure of that. They find out, through two independent sources, that the STUDY plan involves 20,000 robots being controlled by Janie's power. How can they manage so many? Mikoto may not have 20,000 robots in her back pocket, but she does have 10,000 clones. I think we're ready for the finale.

10 Second Anime: Toaru Kagaku no Railgun S Episode 22

Toaru Kagaku no Railgun S Episode 22

The Railgun girls find who's responsible for Febri, and go to get her antidote. Too bad it was a trap. At least the ITEM girls give us some action and fanservice.

Not much more to add to the picture blurb, except Shinobu really wasn't there to help the STUDY group, but to find a cure for the "chemicaloids" they made, and is probably the ITEM contact for the first experiment they ran with the remote control robots and called them to set up a diversion so she could find the formula for Febri's antidote. Too bad it was an obvious decoy in the already obvious decoy to sniff out traitors among the group. And Therestina, who's still rotting in jail, seems to have been just there to give us Onee-san sneers, and mutter about "darkness." At least she offered a clue in finding the STUDY group that they would be non-ESP people. And now we know the main chemicaloid, for whom Febri was supposed to be the spare, is named JANIE. I hope she's cute.

10 Second Anime - Toaru Kagaku no Railgun S - Episode 21

Toaru Kagaku no Railgun S - Episode 21

Febri is an artificial construct. Mikoto learns to rely on her friends. Kongou has a snake.

Well, I was not expecting a few things this episode. Like Kongou having a pet boa constrictor with a red bow on it. Or that amazing portrait of Mii by Febri. Or Mikoto actually telling her friends what she was going to do... that was the most surprising of all.

Nice plot devices though. Those disgusting lollipops actually keep Febri alive to counteract a poison her artificial body makes. An artificial life-form that is disposable too, how very convenient. Plus having Shinobu mixed in with the creepy nerds to explain the flash knowledge stuck in a young artificial being. Doing it 20,000 times with Mikoto's younger "sisters" helped a lot, I'm sure.

But Saten doing her impression of the doctor... Hahaha.

10 Second Anime: Toaru Kagaku no Railgun S Episode 20

Toaru Kagaku no Railgun S Episode 20

Mikoto still wants her pink froggie back from Febri. The girls go to a public bath, but Koroko misses out on Onee-sama time because of the dorm matron. And Mikoto gets attacked by a robot with no electric power in it.

Continuing on with slice-of-a-certain-railgun's-life, Febri just is not giving up on the pink froggie finger puppet. Also, the investigation into the security robots run amok last episode yield some strange circumstances: they had not yet been programmed and had no batteries in them. How could they have been hacked? Nearby, we see a pink crystal holding a fine yellow hair. Hmm.

Mii invites the girls to go to a public bath, which gets Koroko excited for some extra Onee-sama action, but gets blocked by the dorm matron insisting on a massage after her bath. Afterwards, some strange detour signs lead them to a secluded warehouse, and out pops a green robot like the ones attacking the mercenary group Item in Episode 18. It is obviously targeting Mikoto, and her electromagnetism power doesn't work on it. She's not too worried about it, but having bystanders around causes other problems, and Febri somehow freezes it. This does not surprise the non-esper nerds controlling it, and Mitsuko finishes things up with an iron girder.

But Febri is not well, and is taken to the hospital with a high fever. The anti-skill unit finds another crystal with a yellow hair in it, and the doctor who usually treats Touma informs Mikoto that Febri is better, but they didn't do anything. They couldn't treat her because she's not human. She's a fully man-made scientific construct. And Mitsuko lets them know that she overheard one of the non-espers talking about recapturing Febri. Thing are starting to add up.

10 Second Anime - Toaru Kagaku no Railgun S - Episode 19

Toaru Kagaku no Railgun S - Episode 19

Still in the cute-girls-do-cute-things arc, the Railgun crew help a lost little girl. She likes frogs and "intense" lollipops, but she doesn't like Mikoto, at first. And what's her connection to the non-espers attacking Level 5's?

Little Febri is lost, and the only thing she knows is Misaka Mikoto's name. But when she meets her, she's scared, and not even a talking pink froggie (animated by a hairclip and Biri Biri herself) can get Febri to like Mikoto. The group of non-espers who were attacking the 4th highest Level 5 in the last episode seem to know who Febri is, though whether they were targeting her to attack or recapture, we don't know yet. But after some hacked police drones were stopped by Mikoto, those guys switch their attention to the Railgun, who is the 3rd highest Level 5. Um, bad idea guys.

10 Second Anime: Toaru Kagaku no Railgun S Episode 18

Toaru Kagaku no Railgun S Episode 18

Railgun shows its cute-girls-do-cute-things side after the dramatic events of the Sisters Arc. Cake will be eaten, skirts will be flipped, and faces will be made.

There's a little bit of introduction to the next arc of non-espers beginning their plot against the espers of Academy City, but for the Railgun crew, it's a time to celebrate one of their friends getting out of the hospital, hold a going away party for a roommate, and get held up by job duties along the way. Oh, and crying over taiyaki is okay if it's because of happy memories. And don't forget the teasing over liking boys. Cute girls need to do that too.
