Akame ga Kill! - Episode 12
Night Raid welcomes its new members Susanoo the neat freak and Chelsea the playful master of disguise in its new headquarters. A new villain stalks the capital city.
Heh.
A bunch of new characters means a bunch of new quirks to discover and a bunch of new ways our established characters play off of these quirks. Quite a fun episode. That guy Wave is such a good guy. Well-meaning, but hardly ever gets any appreciation for it. At least Kurome noticed.
I was a bit disappointed to see Incursio fashioning the same halberd style for Tatsumi. He's a swordsman. New Death (the name of the secondary weapon) should be a sword.
To get on Akame's good side, bribe her with food!
I love it when Najenda hopes to get praise for something minor. Yes, your new Emperor's Tool is great at house chores, and building houses, apparently. Cooking, cleaning, Lightning Fast Susanoo is your man.
Being an obsessive compulsive neat freak helps his designed behavior as an imperial combat butler.
Chelsea has her own quirks, but she's still getting over losing her entire former team. We don't know what her combat abilities are yet, but her Emperor's Tool makes her the natural choice for infiltration missions. Of course she has to fall for Tatsumi's charming innocent smile. Even if she's starting to like nice guy Tatsumi, she has to warn him about peeping on her in the spa.
Why do all of Lubbock's bright ideas involve spying on naked girls?
That was a fun story about Susanoo only recently awakening for a new master because Najenda looked like his old general. It was a he, of course, a dashing prince type, just like Najenda! But, Najenda is a woman...
Tatsumi and Leone got the lumps they deserved for laughing at the "prince."
Geh.
A new girl on the team means the audience needs some new fan service. With Susanoo conveniently building an outdoor spa, Chelsea delivers. Even giving us some man service... but she recovers nicely.Aw. Esdeath is still in love Tatsumi and misses him dearly, even trying to find his face in the crowds she walks through. She is still mai mistress.
But she has to take a backseat to mai waifu.
Why yes, I'd love to join Leone on the animal skin rug by the fire.
While the team is leveling up in the thin mountain air surrounded by danger beasts, mai waifu gets to show off her tough side too.
Total Victory!
Hmm.
We appear to be at an inflection point in the overall story. It's almost like we're starting over, even having a random villain introduced to be the focus of the next episode. Except this time it's the Jaegers who will have to deal with him and his collection of freaks. It's like a grim reminder that Dr. Stylish is presumed dead, and then this new guy comes in with a similar way of doing things. It's all in Akame ga Kill's plan to get us to care for its characters before it starts killing them off again. It's a good chance to see the Jaegers in action once more, and to continue the character development of the new Night Raid members.Maybe Mine will see through Chelsea's playful pranks as a defense mechanism to avoid getting close to a bunch of new people so soon after her former comrades' deaths, and form an annoyed tsundere friendship with her. That could help her keep moving forward after Sheele's death too. This story appears to like symmetry in its character elements. Nothing wrong with that. This also means Tatsumi will be looking to Susanoo to fill his big brother role too. That will be fun to watch. As long as Susanoo doesn't try to fix Tatsumi's ahoge, I'm sure they'll get along great.
