Coppelion - Episode 2

Dropped.

I can forgive anime logic, but not no logic. Yes, let me run into a partially collapsed building that's leaning over because that's so obviously the best place to hide from little girls who are resistant to radiation. Such an obvious ploy to manipulate the viewers' emotions while witnessing someone fall from a building is insulting. I don't watch anime to have my intelligence insulted. You know what else is insulting? Calling test tube babies Coppelions in reference to the comedic ballet Coppelia about a man who ditches his lover for a life-like doll. That's not cool, obscure, or outré. That's lame. You know what's not lame? The actual Setokai Yakuindomo girls will get a second season soon.

Coppelion - Episode 1

Coppelion? More like No-panties-on, amirite? Come on, you can watch srs anime even if our legs are ridiculously long and our skirts are ridiculously short. You can do it!

Good luck trying to find out what the hell Coppelion means. 20 years after some nuclear incident has rendered Tokyo radioactively uninhabitable, the Seitokai Yakuindomo girls have been tasked to enter the city. Wait. It's not them? But the skirts are just as short, and their legs are just long... Okay, okay, same production company. Ahem. Genetically altered girls (sigh, it's always high school girls, come on Japan, get it together) who can withstand high levels of radioactivity have been sent to investigate a new distress signal coming from downtown Tokyo. Along the way, we'll see how much the city has changed, what its inhabitants look like, what was the nature of the catastrophe, and a little bit about these genetically engineered girls. The 3 episode rule is in effect for this show. The background art is amazing, and it's an interesting character design, but those skirts are distracting outside of a gag-comedy. We'll see if the story overpowers the hemlines.
