Akame ga Kill! - Episode 20
Lubbock and Tatsumi get caught in the capital by Shura and General Budou. Lubbock dies after killing Shura and Tatsumi is scheduled for public execution.
Heh.
The small gathering of Jaegers, only Wave, Kurome, and Ran were there in their capital headquarters, shows how high the cost of their mission to take down Night Raid has been. Not only that, even if Kurome is no longer bleeding from the wound Chelsea gave her, the effects of her poison are still working.Meanwhile, Night Raid is smaller too, down by one from their original number with the loss of Chelsea. This makes Lubbock's death, though expected, another hard loss for the team.
Dammit, Mine's flags were love flags and Leone and Lubbock knew it. Leone has to do some S-Class big sister teasing on Mine for that.
Leone still says she's going to steal Tatsumi away from her.
The Prime Minister's reaction to his son Shura's death was classic. Instant profound grief, and then instant profound acceptance. They really were related to each other.
Shura was voiced by the same guy who did Hachiken's voice in Silver Spoon. I kept expecting him to start shouting about bacon...
The way General Budou towered over Tatsumi reminded me very much of his fight with the Executioner. Incursio has to have stilts or something to make Tatsumi taller after he transforms.
Lubbock, RIP. He should have told Najenda how he felt about her way before this.
I don't know if it would have ever worked out between those two, because his last thoughts of her were of how she appeared when he first met her. If it was real love, he would think of her as she is now. Perhaps it was an instance of regret, imagining how she would have responded if Lubbock had told her he fell in love with her way back then. Let's go with that. He did follow her all these years.
Hmm.
Nobody from the Empire knew Tatsumi was in Night Raid until he got captured. He successfully escaped from Wave and Esdeath, and Mine killed Seryu who had discovered his secret. I'm very curious to see what Esdeath is going to do. She has no loyalty to the Empire, but she holds to her convictions, so I'm expecting some crazy things to happen. It's a bit sad, but also consistent in this cruel world of Akame ga Kill!, that Lubbock died because of the interference of a very human and desperate third party. Using every last bit of his thread, he had none left to form any armor and then he got stabbed in the back. That was a good reminder of how the Empire has even corrupted the regular citizens to be so frantic for their immediate needs.
Next time, the strong women of Night Raid need to recapture their harem king... um, need to steal Tatsumi away from Esdeath... er, rescue the only human male member left in Night Raid. Susanoo's a dude, but he's a weapon that's also a neat freak. There's not enough personality there for them to tease him until he blushes. Grrl pwr to the rescue!
