Updated - Blogger's New Content Policy

Update: I guess Google worried about the future Tumblr exodus of 2015, and decided to actually use their big googly searchy thing to, you know, find actual porn sites being run on Blogger. So, nothing changes here, and no worries about the dreaded review process (please, please Mr. Google, I only have man nipples on my site now!) Original post below.

Yesterday, February 23, I got a notice from Blogger that things are getting a little more boring in blog land. The spin is that they're going after porn bloggers, however, their definitions of what constitutes "good" nudity versus "bad" nudity is vague and disconcerting. As an anime blogger, I have some posts with bare breasts being shown. These shows are not pornography, but neither are they cartoons for kids, nor are they meant to be.

I am not sure how this new policy will affect my blog. Out of over 2600 posts, I have about 40 that show cartoon breasts. I have created an "after dark" blog in case those posts need to be relocated to a private blog. This is just in case. Maybe nothing will happen here.

The private blog option has its own quirks. If you give me a gmail address, and I've allowed you to subscribe, you won't even notice that it's a private blog. If you give me some other email address, you will be allowed in as a "guest," but your token will last only 30 days. In the invitation email, once you click on "accept invitation," you'll be directed to a sign-in page. Below the sign-in button is a "preview" link. Save that link, and you can view a private blog for thirty days without a gmail account.

The Wild Wild West of the internet is almost totally gone now. It's only a matter of time before Yahoo shakes the porn out of Tumblr tree, and anyone else who gets caught up in the vague definitions of "acceptable content."
