Toukai Teiou met her hero Symboli Rudolf at a young age. She just won the 2nd leg of the Japanese Triple Crown in an undefeated run like Teiou hopes to do during Pretty Derby's second season.
The first episode of the Pretty Derby's second season used a nice framing device to connect how Teiou met her hero Rudolf and some young horse girls taking a tour for the racehorse school's open house meeting their two heroes, Mejiro McQueen and Toukai Teiou. Team Spica was in charge, through the Trainer's bad luck of drawing the short straw. It was nice seeing the facilities again, especially Hishi Akebono sporting her gym swimsuit and a poor horse girl confessing her confusing yuri feelings to the shouting stump.
Toukai Teiou grabs the first eye catch of the season. I think she's giving a spoiler with her hand sign.
When Teiou first met Rudolf, her best friend Maruzensky explained to Teiou what Rudolf meant when she said a horse girl needs talent, effort, and luck to succeed in racing. Rudolf saw how well Teiou was doing at school and in her race season, so she made the ominous observation that the second leg of the Triple Crown, the Japanese Derby, was a test of Teiou's luck, because she already showed she had talent and she put in the effort for fitness and training. Testing that luck was right, because after Teiou won the race, she felt a twinge in her ankle and it looked like it got worse during her winners' circle performance. We've already got drama for her rivalry with Mejiro McQueen.
