Anne proved herself to be the individual climber to beat claiming the top spot in bouldering and speed climbing. Hanamiya ranked second to Anne's school, so they were still doing their best to stay in the fight. The announcer who came up with "Murder Observation" for Konomi's skill also quoted Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" for some reason.
Konomi raced against Anne on the speed wall in the semifinals. While Konomi achieved her personal best, Anne beat her by two seconds to make a demoralizing point. It didn't work. The ones who mattered made it into the finals and the toughest event.
After bouldering and speed climbing through the prelims and semifinals many of the girls didn't have enough energy for the marathon of climbing that is the lead climbing event. The favorite for the overall had gone too hard in the earlier events, as Anne's friend had warned her, so she wasn't able to grip the final hold and secure her anchor. Anne had made it up the highest of everyone so far and was only one anchor away from sending the wall.
It was finally Hanamiya's turn to show what the Princess of Lead taught her teammates since she couldn't compete. Jun climbed third highest and Nonoka used her flexibility to climb only one peg lower than Anne. There was only one climber left to do better. Would she?
Konomi beat Anne. She was the only to climb the whole way up too. The heroine beat the demon girl. How else was this anime would this anime end the season finale?
Anne won the overall on the strength of her speed climbing, but Konomi's win on the lead wall put Hanamiya at the top of the team classification. Konomi achieved her goal of being at the top of Japan with her team in about ten months since she started climbing. That was one motivated girl!
