Erina improvises a new dish to complement Souma's dish, using surprising ingredients to gain a shocking result.

Episode 11 - "Song of Hope"

Hmm.

Azami finally admitted to wanting to save chefs from the Wasteland of finding new flavors and losing their way. People tell him it's not his job to save people who don't need saving and he doesn't have the right to control people's careers or choices anyway. Besides, Souma told him that Jouichirou was happy to meet his mom and build a family together with a small diner. Obviously, Azami has control issues. We've only known that since, uh, he was introduced as a character.

There were fun things for the fans who have been following Shokugeki no Soma since the beginning. First, Hisako proclaimed her friendship with Erina, which I'm sure Erina has been wanting to hear since they were children. Play some cards with her next, Hisako, and see the next level of her happiness! Second, we saw how Souma combined every dish he ever made that won an important cooking contest to make his challenge to Erina. Erina's response was to combine every dish Souma had ever made for her to declare her victory, even down to the gelatin cubes Souma made the day they first met. Megumi and Ikumi better watch out, because that is an overt declaration of entering the Yukihira harem sweepstakes.

Finally, I just have to say it — squid tentacles and peanut butter for the win! Aaahhh! Next, Erina has to figure out how to make dried sardines and strawberry jam work in a gourmet dish. Well, maybe she can't, because she doesn't love Jouichirou the same way she loves Souma. Try getting her to admit that, though. Souma just might, if he can ever get her to say his food is delicious.

Heh.

Erina doesn't have a specialty, since she can make any dish its perfect version. Erina doesn't like it when Souma agrees with her. Teamwork? What teamwork?

Kyuun! Erina just flirted with Souma. She's always called him an idiot as an accusation, but now she pronounces it as a term of endearment. Plus, she's not wrong. Souma really is an idiot.

Senzaemon has been denying Erina a specialty all these years because when everything she makes is perfectly delicious, they're all the same deliciousness. Erina needs to find a way of cooking or a dish that is more than delicious. She needs to fill it with love! Of course.

Is Erina cooking with passion or just rushing to finish in ten minutes? Why not both? These flashbacks correspond to the feelings she's putting into her dish. Both Souma and his father have the same attitude to the Wasteland of Flavor — if you know exactly where you're headed, it's no fun at all.

This is drawing out the conclusion, but at least we get some Rindou foodgasms. Eishi explains the dish tastes like listening to a live concert.

It's every dish Souma ever made for her, combined into one, and perfected. Chicken and egg rice bowl, gourmet style. Of course, there's no rice dish that's a main course in either French or Japanese gourmet cuisine, so this is the perfect way to smack her father's ideal of gourmet.

Um, there's a word for what happened to Eishi and Rindou when they had Erina's dish. Yes, the word is "Blammo!" He said "squid!" Where's the peanut butter!?

Yas! Yeah! Squid and peanut butter! I'm dying! She claims they're the bridge between the appetizer and main dish. She just dissed Souma too, because she found a way to make it work when he couldn't. Of course, he just wanted to find the most disgusting taste, not the most delicious way of using them.

Those two are slapping each other with their quirks. Souma used the God Tongue for his dish and Erina used his disgusting combo for hers. Get a room, you two!

Azami says he won't acknowledge the dish, but it won't matter after he eats it. Uh, Erina isn't done yet. She's using that chicken gelatin that Souma made the first time he ever met her! It's a true cooking love affair. Erina even stole Souma's naughty angels! And his naming style — Delinquent Daughter Style.

Here it comes! Clothes explosions! Azami's body knows the food is delicious. Well, we know for sure that Erina beat Souma's dish. Whoa!

Aw. Hisako finally confessed to being Erina's friend. And Azami even lost his own clothes. Total victory.

Next time, it looks like we have an epilogue episode before the manga's final arc.
