Remarks: Even though I'm no longer training for some 100 mile ride, and I was supposed to cut down the weekly mileage and elevation, you can see how throwing in a post-century "taper" ride of 70 miles up a couple of mountains might throw those goals for a loop. Interestingly, my legs are more tired and sore from this Sunday's ride than the 100 mile-5250 elevation ride the week before, even though we did 30 miles and 500 feet less. I attribute this to the number of food stops and menu selection: I ate way more last week (hey, my registration fee paid for some of that!), and I ate a half a banana at each stop as well. Definitely feeling the lack of potassium after coming down from Mt. Baldy and GMR. Bonus of the day - forcing a Yaris to use a turnout on the descent because it was going too slow handling the curvy roads!
