Kantai Collection - Episode 7

Fubuki's squadron continues to be successful, but their teamwork still needs improvement. The Abyssals appear to have a disturbing advantage.

Heh.

When a fleet controls more territory, supply lines get longer? Wow. I've only seen this kind of realistic strategic consequence in RTS game adaptations... Oh! I mean, sure, the ships have nice little pictures of cute girls, but all their stats belong to actual navy ships.

The Abyssals may have cracked the fleet's code. Or perhaps they got them some other way. Like maybe the sunken ships aren't as sunken as we thought they were.

I still can't get over why the carrier ships hate launching recon sorties. Carriers should like to know where stuff is to blow up later.

Note to self: dive bombing is faster than torpedo dropping.

Zuikaku the twin-tail tsundere wants you not to get the wrong idea. Don't worry, Zuikaku. Kaga can make more of those little bunnies you like while she's soaking in dry dock.

"Soaking in dry dock." This show makes me write weird things.

Aw. Even when they're far apart, Zuikaku and Kaga improved their teamwork. Zuikaku remembered that Kaga's sacrifice to take the torpedo hit was based on capitalizing on an opportunity. Kaga missed being with her new squadron, even while soaking next to her beloved sister ship Akagi. Ii na, ii na! (いいな、いいな!)

Of course, the eye catch is all about Kaga.

This yellow-eyed abyssal carrier may be someone we see again.

That looked like it hurt.

I love how Fubuki still talks with Yuudachi and Mutsuki about her problems with her weird mobile group. I guess the other groups are doing fine if Mutsuki and Yuudachi aren't complaining to Fubuki about their fleet girls.

Hmm.

The two important plot elements we saw this week are the points of information about the Abyssal Fleet having cracked the navy's codes and that their operation is successful enough that their supply lines have been stretched. The code problem might be the hint that Kisaragi isn't as sunk as we thought, but whether that means she's been captured or turned into an Abyssal ship, we don't know yet.

The supply line problem also has pros and cons. The Abyssal Fleet might be letting the Fleet Girls take too much territory too fast that they won't be able to defend it. The positive view is that the admiral's operation is successful so far.

The admiral's choice to put together a fast moving squadron with an overpowered destroyer as its flagship seems to be working out pretty well. Fubuki just needs to stop being so nervous that she goosesteps into his office.
