Episode 6 — “Steeplechase Part II”
Hmm.
I just recently remembered one result from Mahouka’s second season.
Tatsuya has a
maid robot with a parasite who has fallen in love with him
inside it. Tatsuya is already ahead of the Kudou clan’s military research
branch! Did the elder Kudou already know that? We know he assumed Tatsuya
would protect the other students from the parasite weapons, whether they lost
control or not. The Patriarch’s goal was to warn the military away from ever
turning magicians into soldiers again. And the best way to do that is to show
Mahesvara in action!
Here’s the other wrinkle about Tatsuya having P-Weapon in his corner: Shiba
already has the resources of a single Master Clan. He has a research
institute, a strategic magic weapon (himself), a harem of political wives
among the clans, the government, and the military, and an interdimensional
being! The Yotsubas have been trying to keep his growing powers a secret, but
it’s getting tougher to hold onto his leash if foreign agents threaten his
immediate friends and family. Mahouka’s storyline reminds me of Arthur
C. Clarke’s Europa warning: “All these worlds are yours except Europa. Attempt
no landing there.” Don’t mess with the First Magic High School while the
walking neutron bomb is there.
Heh.
Sandwiches are necessary for student reports and data entry. It’s a
training montage. Mahouka skips most of the slice-of-life stuff
this season. Miyuki needs a reward, too. Headpats! Uh oh. “Somebody”
emailed Tatsuya about the Kudou research into P-Weapons to test during the
Steeplechase Cross-country event. Master Yakumo had heard rumors about a
new weapon but not about testing it at the Nine Schools Competition. Field
trip to Nara for investigations!
Tatsuya enters his motorcycle in incognito mode. It’s too late for
virtuous young ladies to travel around. Miyuki is not an “immoral young
lady,” is she? Huh. Tatsuya found well-behaved sleeping female robots.
With parasites inside them! Ho. The clandestine subbranch for the
Yotsubas, the Kurobas, needs to talk to Miyuki. Ayako’s father has the
same intel that Tatsuya received, though they worked faster than Tatsuya
and already had info on the parasite dolls. Welp. That’s enough
investigating for tonight!
Ahaha. All that demanding work for nothing, Tatsuya! The Kurobas gave
Miyuki the data he needed in the hotel lobby. Ha! Master Yakumo noted the
Yotsubas owned the hotel. What a sneaky guy. The Kurobas also had info on
the Ancient Magic users that the Chinese villain brought in.
And we’re back to slice-of-life high school hijinks for Mahouka.
Tatsuya has a harem of girls around him, his athletes for whom he engineers.
Mikihiko and Shun appear to have many male fans. Ho. Ayako and Fumiya
“introduce” themselves to Tatsuya-oniisan. The Kurobas attend Fourth Magic
High School. Maya called Saeki to warn her about the hard-liners’ plot against
the Steeplechase Cross-country race. The military shouldn’t provoke a walking
neutron bomb, you know.
