Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei - Raihousha Hen - Episode 8 - 10 Second Anime

Tatsuya and friends focus on finding the parasites still on the loose with Pixie’s help.

Hmm.

The theme of Mahouka this week is faction loyalty. We see this in how Pixie renounced her parasite brethren because she fell in love with Tatsuya through Honoka’s strong feelings. We see this in how Section 3 monitors its own Japanese magicians. We see this in how one of the Ten Master Clans negotiates with the American military directly. We also see this in how the “demons” tried to drive a wedge between Tatsuya’s magician class and regular humans he’s forced to “serve.” And most importantly, we see this in how Miyuki is loyal to her Shiba sibling faction above the Yotsuba clan and icky arranged marriages.

While two of the faction rivalries have immediate plot developments in Mahouka, like the parasites trying to retrieve Pixie and the Yotsuba clan striking a deal with the Stars’ leader which will affect Angelina, it feels like there are two faction rivalries that are laying down markers for future developments. How Section 3 tracks its magician class and what magicians think of their untalented human cohort connects to certain news events the kids have mentioned earlier in the season. We’ve heard of some insurgent magicians running around America and anti-magician militias targeting them too. Something is coming to a head, but Mahouka is only placing them in the background for later. First, we deal with these blackhole demons and send Angelina home with the other Americans.

Ha. The Japanese navy “helped” an American stealth boat after it suffered “engine trouble.” Miyuki already knew about it because that trouble relates to what Tatsuya did to the Stars last episode. Eep. Wincest! Miyuki doesn’t want an arranged marriage where she has children with anyone else than oniisama!

Back to Pixie. Now that Angelina’s mission is a failure, we need to finish off the other visitors’ story. The parasites are still running around. Look at Tatsuya. Getting information by just asking questions. Is this anime in 2021? The parasites used the blood of victims to make a body to transfer to another body. It was an accident, Pixie swears! So far, except for Pixie, no one has moved to another body yet. Parasites doing something with dead bodies… They made Chinese zombies!

Haha. I love the Mahouka theme music for funny sexy harem hijinks. Pixie has a robot body, come on, girls! She’s a girl robot, come on, Tatsuya! Not the hill to die on, buddy. Cute! Tatsuya thinks parasites hang out in cemeteries. Explain your work, Tatsuya. Scooby gang, activate!

Whoa. Virginia Balance is still alive. Ah. She’ll need to make a deal with Tatsuya’s Master Clan the Yotsuba. Ho. Aunt Maya wants the Americans to stop bothering her nephew. They’re merely “bothering” Tatsuya at this point. Ayako Kuroba offers no threats, only promises.

Tatsuya’s Scooby gang is under surveillance from internal security. What do they want? Aw. Kyouko is working against Tatsuya tonight. Naturally, the parasites come running toward Pixie. The parasites call themselves “demons.” Pixie doesn’t want to return to her comrades. She’s in love with Tatsuya, that’s the reason.

This demon named Marte believes he understands magicians’ sentiments against regular people because they treat them like tools or experiment subjects. That feels like a theme we’ll revisit. Negotiations broke down. Lose to Tatsuya or let him win. Those are your choices. Ooh. Honoka and Pixie shared a mind-meld. Or heart-meld. Cliffhanger? Erika’s part of the Scooby gang needs to show up next time.
