Tanjirou copied Zenitsu's Thunder Breathing to catch up to the sneaky miniature body of the Upper Five demon. Tokitou caught up to the fighting venue with Tanjirou's sword, then Tanjirou combined Thunder Breathing and Fire Breathing into one rushing attack.
But that sneaky demon hid his tiny body inside another larger one! The sun had risen, but its rays wouldn't burn through the devil before it caught some escaping villagers. But how could Tanjirou protect the villagers and Nezuko at the same time? Nezuko stopped his hesitation by kicking him away and wordlessly encouraging him to save human life. Tanjirou located the fiend's small body inside the larger one and finally beheaded it. Tanjirou has been present at recent places where he helped kill three of the Upper Six demons. And one where another almost died!
Tanjirou despaired about Nezuko's demise. His quest to return her humanity was why he joined the Demon Slayers. How could he go on? He could because Nezuko could walk in the sunlight! How? For now, we celebrate, but Nezuko's mystery of how she kept her humanity as a demon and now can stand the sun's rays will continue.
Mitsuri slowly lost her stamina against the raging dragon demon. And her composure! But just as one dragonhead swallowed her whole, Tanjirou defeated the Upper Five demon. Mitsuri's joy only increased when she saw Nezuko standing in the sunlight. Happy ends all around.
The Swordsmith Village gave Tanjirou a standing ovation as a goodbye, but Haganezuka had to vent his tsundere energy into swinging around Kotetsu before the demon slayer left. Goodbye, smiling, fanged Nezuko, for now. We'll see you soon in the Hashira training arc.
