Veldora showed up only to get the next volume of the manga he was reading from Rimuru. That was his emergency. Rimuru took advantage of his presence by asking him to "play" with Milim so he could make sure the other parts of the battle were going well. Rimuru only needed to rescue one fox spirit from Clayman's puppet spell. Shion totally dominated Clayman himself. Veldora had fun playing Street Fighter and Dragon Ball with his niece Milim.
The big shock for Clayman, Rimuru, and some of the other Demon Lords, was that Milim was never under any puppet control spell. She only played along to expose his plots and defeat him later on. Demon Lord Carrion didn't appreciate losing his kingdom, and Rimuru became a demon lord to recover his, so Milim didn't think through the consequences of her playacting.
All's well that ends well, right? Rimuru made another demon lord friend with Carrion. Milim got her beloved dragon mitts back. Rimuru learned that he needs to listen to his internal advisor better.
Rimuru's plan wasn't over yet, though. Clayman was weak because he never genuinely awakened as a demon lord. Rimuru banked on Clayman's damaged pride to force him into making a sincere plea to use the souls of his victims to become a demon lord. We know Rimuru wants to defeat Clayman to make a point, but Rimuru always has a side benefit for his actions. The battle begins next episode!
