American Joe Dombrowski, who won the amateur Giro Ciclistico d'Italia, also known as the Baby Giro, in 2012, won his first professional race outside of the United States at the fourth stage of the Giro in Sestola. The last American to win a stage at the Giro was Chad Haga in 2019 at the final time trial in Verona.
