Shingeki no Kyojin - The Final Season - Episode 66 - 10 Second Anime

Eren and the Scouts fight against the Marleyan forces and their Titans, unleashing utter devastation.

#66 – “Assault”

Hmm.

Wow, just wow! Mappa Studios does set action pieces in Shingeki no Kyojin so well I almost forgot about how terrible the closeup faces look. Almost. It’s clear that Armin took Erwin’s lessons well about how and when to gamble. The suspenseful writing made us worry that Eren and the Scouts’ action was only a commando raid, where they needed to worry about precise timing to make their entrance and escape. Nope! They only needed to know when to duck and cover from Armin destroying the entire Marleyan navy. Wow!

Another fun thing about Paradis Island turning the tables on Marley was how Eren became an expert on how inconsistent he was in using his Titan powers. It was always a crisis of confidence for him in past Shingeki no Kyojin seasons, and he clearly doesn’t suffer that anymore. He can transform at will, multiple times, jumping around like a Scout. Better yet, he knows what buttons to press in others to block their powers. Eren took out a Marleyan Titan before the action started just by talking with Reiner. Thankfully for Reiner’s sanity, he still cared about his cousin Gabi and his young friend Falco to respond to their desperate cries. His partial transformation demonstrates that wavering confidence, but we’ll need to see how Eren deals with him next episode.

One last thing I noticed is how much confidence the Marleyan Titans had in fighting a handful of Scouts and Eren. These same forces kicked out all the invading Titans from Paradis Island in the previous season of Shingeki no Kyojin. Did they think they would just be sitting around not developing innovative technology, tactics, and training for four years while Marley exhausted itself in its expansionist war? Armin and Hange look like they incorporated Titan Power, Kenny’s anti-personnel weapons and gear, improved anti-Titan Scout weaponry, and the military vessels that Marley lost when they attempted reconnaissance on them. There was a four-year black hole of information, yet Willy Tybur absolutely believed they would attack the moment Marley declared peace in its last military campaign. How did he know that? I have new questions for the final season of Shingeki no Kyojin.

Heh.

This is a pitched battle episode on Shingeki no Kyojin this week. Marley will turn the tide, then Paradis will reveal its real strategy. Something will go BOOM! Well, Pieck saved Porco’s jaw with her Panzer Unit attachments. The Warhammer Titan isn’t asleep in her crystal egg. Interesting. Her structures are no longer harder than Eren’s hardened skin. That’s important. Titans tire out and can only fight for so long. Enough time went by and the other Titans are coming.

Weird. Reiner can only do a partial transformation. He’s like Eren when he used to panic or Annie when she encased herself in crystal. Why didn’t they let Eren try to eat her too? Well, there was a time skip, so let’s hope they bring that up. Warhammer Girl has creepy doll’s eyes. Falco crawled out the Armored Titan’s hands. He knows Titan Powers can heal if they have the will to live, so we already Reiner is deficient in that area. The sound of the Warrior candidates’ voices kept him from pulling the trigger just recently. He’s down for now.

As I thought, Eren can’t eat the Warhammer because her crystal is too tough for his teeth. It sounds like he tried to eat Annie too and failed. Eren knows the Warhammer is tired, but he’s got plenty of fight left. Oh, please stop speaking Pieck. Everything you say trips a death flag! Armin hasn’t even entered the game yet! Levi marks his time. Wait for it, wait for it…

Here we go, here we go! Armin POG (Player Of the Game). Oh, that guy can see your fleet, loud guy. BLAMMO! Down goes the Beast Titan. There goes all those death flags you tripped Pieck. What a statement from Levi. Eat this, Zeke. The Cart Titan isn’t much without her tank guns. Sasha makes one eat a potato. Yeesh. Magath and the kids watch all their Titans fall in front of them.

The Marley port is gone. Utter devastation. Uh, the Paradisians have a zeppelin! Who’s up there? Aw. Jean had a pang of conscience against shooting a kid, so he hesitated on his kill shot against Pieck. She’s still not looking too good there. Dumbass Porco goes after Eren. I’m impressed with how patient Eren is in a Titan fight. Now Eren knows how to eat the Warhammer! Mikasa notices the difference in skills from Ymir’s Jaw Titan.

Ha! Here comes the Paradisian zeppelin! The lights were to mark their flight path. Hange! Armin got a haircut. It’s a reckless plan, just like Erwin used to make. Har. Eren turned the Jaw Titan into a can opener! That Porco kid is too impulsive. That’s why they lost the Warhammer. Three inside Eren now. Will Porco make it four? The kids scream for Reiner, but will he wake up? Couldn’t let them go. It’s a weak transformation, so what happens next?
