Emilia explained to Echidna that she needed to see certain comforting memories she recently regained before she faced the trial of confronting her past which had nearly driven her mad. Seeing Betelgeuse as a nice man courting Emilia's aunt Fortuna was more than disconcerting considering the man he became when Subaru met him. He and Fortuna looked disturbingly like the frozen "parents" Emilia tended when Puck met her. A sealed door surrounded by snow hints at where the Beast of the End came from before Emilia befriended and named it "Puck."
