Fuutarou's mysterious Kyoto girl came back to him five years later. She calls herself "Rena," which is the Nakano quintuplet's mother's name, but it's clear from her embarrassed reaction to how well Fuutarou knows each of the girls' foibles, it's one of them wearing a costume. I vote that it's Ichika using her acting skills, but it's a mystery why and how this Nakano sister realized Fuutarou was that blonde kid she met so long ago. Drama injection!
Meanwhile, Fuutarou still needs to encourage Nino to reconcile with her sisters, while she believes she's focusing properly on doing well on her midterm exams. Fuutarou strangely believed that if she could leave "Kintarou" behind, the blonde boy she met at the camping trip, she would become emotionally whole enough to return home. Nino saw through his desperate impersonation, but mistakenly came away thinking that he only played being her crush to make her feel better. This love comedy complication still has some life in it.
Fuutarou decided to cut his losses after realizing that Nino was focusing on using his study guides for the midterm exams. His next target is Yotsuba who can't refuse helping athletic clubs win their competitions. The track and field club takes advantage of her at the worst possible time for her academic standing. Yotsuba's dramatic arc isn't as interesting as Ichika forcing her to use "adult" toothpaste to help heal her stress-induced canker sores.
