#24 – “Diffusion”
Hmm.
The one thing I wanted this Railgun episode to give me was a believable explanation of Doppelganger’s motivation for her escape and why she targeted certain people and places for destruction. She claimed she wanted to kill the real Ryoko and destroy the airship containing her data to make “soul diffusion” happen. She wanted to kill herself, soul, and all. I don’t believe it.
As soon as Ryoko fell off the airship, she could easily have destroyed the airship at that point. Instead, she tried to manipulate Mikoto into killing her. Perhaps that suicide prevention thing was still working, so she needed to somebody else to pull the figurative trigger. We’ll need to get the real answers to these questions about Doppelganger’s actions in the season finale next week.
Heh.
Railgun T turned into a monster movie! It's Doppelgangerzilla vs. Railgun Man. I like how Railgun Man has wings on his back, just to let you know that Mikoto is close to becoming an Angel as a Level 6 Psychic. Somehow huge monsters are rampaging around Academy City yet there's a total news blackout, no evacuations, and Mikoto's friends think there's a firework show going on. That lets you know that Academy City loves seeing its students go all out with their experimental powers.
Ryoko thinks she knows what Doppelganger wants, but it looks like she's only partially correct. Meanwhile, Scavenger, but mainly Leader, goes full tsundere in protecting goody two-shoes Mikoto.
Mikoto and Misaki figured out how Doppelganger's power works and it's not some magical soul diffusion. She makes artificial muscles that spread everywhere. Cliffhanger for if Mikoto let her railgun hit Doppelganger. I expect a quick resolution that makes some feelz and sadz before the fun stuff of saying goodbye to Mikoto and her friends.
