We found out that Ishtar was NOT part of the Three Goddess Alliance, but the question becomes when was THAT goddess summoned?
Quetzalcoatl and Ishtar were sure everyone knew that it was Ereshkigal that was the third member of the Three Goddess Alliance, next to Gorgon and Quetzalcoatl herself. Apparently, Ishtar and Ereshkigal are the same Earth Goddess in some Sumerian mythologies, so they were both summoned at the same time. This explains her sporadic sightings when it's nighttime or the Sun is about to go down.
Fujimaru has to rescue Gilgamesh's soul from Ereshkigal's Underworld, because he accidentally died from overwork. You can tell this is a Japanese show... Ishtar knows exactly where Ereshkigal's kingdom is, but she decided to make her own entrance into it.
Ishtar has been here before, so she knows where things are. Unfortunately, this is doesn't help her get through the seven gates which Ereshkigal has locked which can only open by answering the riddles which make Ereshkigal the prettier and better goddess compared to Ishtar. Each time Ishtar answered a question wrong, she lost some of her divinity, causing her to shrink and causing Gilgamesh to laugh.
We have new opening credits for the winter season. The whole issue of Ishtar and Ereshkigal sharing the same body will be an important plot point.
We have new end credits too, with Ereshkigal taking a new prominent place with the other characters.
