The Crimson Vow wants to rescue their friend Pauline, but how to do that without involving the Hunters' Guild? Mile's idea works, kind of.
Pauline has disappeared, and from Mavis' brother's latest letter, she's been arranged to marry into Mavis' family. The Crimson Vow has to do something!
It's pretty clear that Pauline takes after her mother... So, after Mile proposed the girls wear dress masks, which doesn't really hide their identities, and handle all the evil henchmen of Pauline's evil stepfather, Mavis' father decided the two parties should duel to prove who has the better claim on the mercantile company. Of course, Pauline won, and finally got her revenge.
Things weren't over yet, though. Mavis' dad knew who Pauline was and figured her friends would come to get her, so he could soon bring Mavis back home. That didn't work out for him either, since he had to face her "master" in Mile to prove Mavis would be safe while doing bounty work. With Mile around, how could she not be?
