10 Second Anime - Toaru Kagaku no Accelerator - Episode 8

Esther recalls the circumstances of Hirumi's death as she prepares a special weapon to fix her mistakes.

#08 - "(Friend) Hirumi"

Meh.

There was no Accelerator, so I don't care. Also, the writing was so disjointed, I couldn't understand why certain things happened or even how much time passed. Big Bro's nerd partner came into the final scene of the flashback with guards. Why? There was no point to this other than Not-Hirumi to crush some bodies like ants. And Hirumi became friends with Esther because they shared a huge parfait and she gave her some new slutty clothes? Meh.

Hmm.

This show finally revealed what its allegory is for the season — malicious AI abusing deepfakes. Of course, they had to bring it in from the magic side, just to be too clever by half, but now we can get Accelerator spouting off at the pseudo-soul that it doesn't know how to be a villain in modern times. I just can't wait until that scene happens 🙄. Oh, wait. Yes, I can.

Heh.

Hirumi seemed to be an airheaded girl, but she also had a superior attitude. Did that come from her own gifts, or was that transference from her egghead brother?

Big Bro Nerd was working on the Level 6 Shift project too, but his way was pretty scatterbrained, drawing on inspiration from ancient supernatural sources and legends. Esther is a real person, but where did she come from if she doesn't know how to use a shower? Big Bro used to smoke too, so at some point he switched to lollipops.

The Big Bro Nerd Crew discovered a strange phenomenon where people's abilities were amplified if they thought their bodies were bigger (they're making girls pilot a huge artificial body), but if they made the bodies too big, the subjects suffered dysphoria and mentally broke down. Their theory is if they can keep the mind small in a bigger and bigger body without losing a sense of self, they can get someone to Level 6. Alistair Crowley appears to be connected to a huge satellite...

Hirumi hid from her brother, for reasons, that she was terminally ill and needed to be the first Level 6 before she died, so it would cure her, or it would make her short life mean something? I already mentioned how disjointed this episode was. Anyway, we saw her prepare some things before committing suicide to force her Big Bro to stick her in the Coffin and bring her back to life. She made a big deal of having forget-me-not flowers with her too. But nah, that's not what's happening. She took one of Esther's pseudo-souls earlier and it appears that thing is just mimicking her personality.

Or is it? It's Schrödinger's Hirumi, where she may be alive and dead in that hulking machine. Also, Hirumi may have uploaded her real mind to the MISAKA network, since those surplus Antiskill goggles looked familiar, but Hirumi knows that her Rosenthal pseudo-soul needs to be put down.

And we're back to present day. Esther needed to a ritual where she shared a friendship moment with Hirumi. Emperor Shun's Blade looks very important. That malicious AI is going to get a malware injection. Next time, we'll find out why Big Bro needs to see a Misaka Sister die over ten thousand times.
