Tom Dumoulin finished 2nd again at a grand tour after finishing 46 seconds behind Chris Froome earlier at this year's Giro. Because he beat Froome's 3rd place by 33 seconds, the current grand tour specialist has a combined Giro-Tour lead over Dumoulin by just 13 seconds. At only 27 years of age, Tom Dumoulin has many more years and chances to win a Tour than 33 year old Chris Froome, but we should see these two in close competition, with 32 year old Geraint Thomas as well, for another couple of years.
