Was there ever any doubt that Kirito would end up at the top rank of any game based on Nerve Gear? Of course not.
Asuna usually does very well in these types of games too, even better at ones based on her physical fitness, which this new AR uses. She's not so sure about getting extra "service" from the in-game virtual idol Yuna, though.
The plot revolves around SAO survivors somehow losing their memories of the time they were trapped inside the game. Kirito, who hadn't used the new AR very much, has to do something about it, with help from Yui and Sinon.
There is a bad guy, naturally, who was also cheating, naturally, that Kirito had to beat. The bad guy's motivation has a romantic core tied to the virtual idol Yuna and the real person who inspired her design.
Since this is SAO, everything comes back to that game. Here, some real closure is felt where the true winner of the new game has to beat the final boss of SAO, which was never done before. All the players from games based on SAO were able to participate, if they were friends of Kirito, of course.
Kirito defeated the game's final boss, just like he defeated the villainous final boss the first time around. The prize - a boss-killing sword. Totally OP specs!
Geh.
Asuna had a little bit of a PG-13 moment in the bathtub. Tastefully NSFW.
Much excitement was made over a bathtub lounging scene in the 2nd season of SAO. Asuna got more of the same in the movie, but there was controversy over how "steamy" the disk versions would be compared to the theatrical release. Steamy in the good way!
