Souma and Tsukasa finish their venison cooking contest. Megumi and Ikumi face Central. Souma and Azami reveal secrets from the past.
Episode 12 - "The One Who Aims for the Summit"
Meh.
Okay, I understand certain events from the manga have to be truncated to fit the timing of a split-cour break, but sacrificing the cooking contests of the other Central villains against Megumi, Ikumi, and Marui is sacrificing too much for my personal tastes.
At least we saw one of the guys do some cooking against Ryou, but to introduce those other Central Characters and do nothing with them? That's not right. Especially when we had two big booby monsters going head to head in Ikumi and Mea. That blonde girl who never showed her eyes would have been fun to see too against glasses wearing Marui. Oh well. At least we can ogle to our hearts' content with these images I made.
This was especially bad in Ikumi's case, since we barely saw any of her blushing around Souma or bouncing around the kitchen this season. I can't be satisfied with her just looking at a TV screen.
Heh.
Lots of words explaining cooking this episode. Thankfully we had pretty girls pointing at ingredients to hold our attention.
I think I cracked the code on the opening credits for this season. Whatever dish they show at the end is the winning dish of the featured shokugeki. Too bad I cracked it right before the mid-term break...
Even when he's competing, Souma's always ready to learn new cooking techniques.
The hidden peanut gallery isn't as hidden as they think. Of course Souma was going to ask them to be the judges for his and Tsukasa's cooking challenge.
Tsukasa is so oblivious. It's an endearing quality which makes sure you can't hate him too much for being on the bad guy's side.
Ha! Shelled clothes for shelled chestnuts.
Erina so tsun tsun. It's a pretty good new French dish using sweetened chestnut snacks and instant coffee. Imagine what a perfected dish would do to her...
Hmm. No foodgasm for Tsukasa's dish. Hisako and Megumi did that last episode just by smelling the venison roasting. Only Souma can make Erina's clothes explode.
I don't agree with the girls' judgement. Are they judging the best way to present venison in a French way, or are they judging the best dish that blows their clothes off? I always side with whatever gets me the most bare skin.
Har. Tsukasa can't take Souma as an assistant anyway. His crazy improvisation would give him a heart attack. Souma didn't seem to have any trouble helping him out in class, though.
Tsukasa is on that summit, but it's not as far away as Souma thought.
Megumi, Ikumi, and Marui win their shokugeki. Too bad that the show only used them to emphasize an important foreshadowing from Souma to wonder why Hayama and his spice club didn't go through one of these.
Ha! Azami is portrayed as such a monster. Look at that pale face covered in shadow by the door.
Ooh! Big revelation for Erina. Her admired crush is actually Souma's dad!
This is a big deal for Azami too. He claims the whole purpose of his homogenization of gourmet cuisine is a response to how Jouichiro Saiba reacted to its current state. We know Souma's dad is an improvisational genius, more so than his son, so it's tantalizing to think about what Azami saw in Jouichiro during their time together at the Polar Star Dormitory.
And that's the end? No. See you next April for the second half of the third season.
