10 Second Anime - Vatican Kiseki Chousakan - Episode 9

Roberto and Joseph travel to Tuscany to investigate a miraculous apparition. A scary village myth is tied to the church there somehow and to a larger conspiracy.

Episode IX - "The Decapitating Clown and the Tale of Solomon"

Heh.

The creators must have been big fans of the Blair Witch Project. Or they love those ghost seeker reality shows on TV where the "investigators" jump at every rustle and bump in the night.

You can tell this video is old because it's in 4:3 aspect ratio.

This legend doesn't have a very catchy name, but it appears to be very descriptive. Decapitating Clown, huh.

Well. That's a decapitating clown alright. Nice head rolling through the frame there.

What kind of horn sound is that? Alpine horn? If this is Tuscany, that's a little too far South.

Ha. Lauren joined Roberto and Joseph for dinner over Skype.

This motley clown code is going to be a thing for this mystery.

Here come the conspiracy clues. Our heroes need to reexamine a miracle because the head priest at the church didn't sign off on the successful investigation. What little church wouldn't want to have a recognized miracle? Strange goings-on at that St. Eligius Church in Monte Village.

Why does every setting have some kind of strange columns placed around the grounds?

Interesting. The "miracle" has a sound, but the visual phenomenon doesn't record, even though witnesses describe seeing light come from the crucifix. Hallucinations?

Yay! More map traveling. Also, nice Jaguar the Vatican let Roberto drive.

That certain farm with a checkered logo and a pretty lady is going to be important.

The church even has a statue of the motley clown with its scythe. That's not foreboding...

Fr. Trones, the head priest, claims he doesn't want the extra visitors a miracle would bring. He also gave up a huge fortune when he entered the Church. Rich family ties to the region? That's not suspicious either...

This Decapitating Clown also has his own painting inside St. Eligius, but it looks more like a portrait of a patron.

Just like the other researchers, Joseph didn't record any visual light coming from the crucifix, but each witness described something similar but with unique differences. That horn sound must be causing visual hallucinations and it shakes the ground too. Tellingly, Fr. Trones says he doesn't see anything.

Every setting has a huge library too. This is so we can get the big clue for each mystery. For this one, we have more devil worship in a pair of mirrored books.

Strangely, everything is the same in each book of Azoth (imprisoned by Paracelsus, the legend goes, but also sought after as the Universal Cure in alchemy) except for how the tale of Solomon's Advice got transcribed in the reflected book. These were three suggestions for travelers. The first and the third got rewritten to throwing oneself into a boiling pot and to count the true number of beasts when Venus and the Moon align. Good thing Roberto and Joseph have such good luck in coming to town just when the Moon and Venus are going to appear together.

Odd practices at this church. There are bars on the windows and the head priest locks everyone into their cells from the outside at night. To protect them from the Decapitating Clown?

Weird how the Decapitating Clown Project video had the horn sound at night, but the "miracle" always happens at morning mass.

Of course, a random albino murder victim appears just when Roberto and Joseph got there. This kid looks like he's dressed as an oblate.

Ha. Inspector Bufi is voiced by the same guy who does Favarooooo!

The yaoi couch preview just had Joseph explain how the brain interprets what we see. Yeah, I think we got that already.
