Vincenzo Nibali officially won his 2nd Giro d'Italia in Torino, joining only Alberto Contador as a multiple Giro winner among active professional cyclists. Those two champions are also the only active riders who have won all three Grand Tours.
The image that sums up the 99th Giro, eclipsing Nibali's epic recovery to gain the overall lead on the very last day, was the unfortunate circumstance that made his victory even a possibility.
