Souma wakes up. The contestants finish cooking their curry. Judging begins in B Block featuring Nao and Hisako.
Episode 21 - "The Known Unknown"
Heh.
Donald Rumsfeld references aside, the title of the episode had a pun involving Hisako. 未 (mi) is also the symbol for the Ram in the Chinese Zodiac. Hisako specializes in Chinese homeopathic cuisine and she served mutton with her curry.
I kind of hate and not hate these fake cliffhangers with Souma. Sure, there's a lot of different characters that story needs to focus on from time to time, but shoehorning the main character into a scene just to namecheck is kind of meh. I don't hate it because it gives us something to look forward to when we do come back to Souma and his dish that was aromatic enough to wake him up.
Many of the characters are relying on their interests and specialties to come up with interesting curry, so a major question is what would Megumi do since all we know so far is her focus on hospitality. Well, putting on a monkfish butchering show is a useful nod to her regional cooking skills.
Speaking of regional cooking skills, Miyoko-sama still shook her wok for the fanboys.
It's too bad Nao was in a different block than Souma, because he would have been inspired by her horrible smelling ingenuity. Souma is pure though. He makes stuff that looks and tastes terrible, while Nao makes stuff that smells terrible but tastes wonderful.
Orie definitely could not stop herself from slurping up those noodles. It's a neat trick since a lot of a food's flavor is based on how it smells. What kind of delicious curry taste would come from a rotting seaside sewer drain?
It's totally believable that Hisako's healing cuisine would exorcise the demons from Nao's witch body.
I was not expecting Nao to look like this!
Nao (White) is born!
The backstory behind Nao and Hisako was about what I expected. The conditions of their shokugeki probably made things worse, though.
Did you know that when Isami came back thin from Summer vacation, they also changed him in the end credits?
Well, guess what they did to the Cauldron Witch?
Ha! That was great!
I was glad that we had full on foodgasms for Orie, but I was disappointed we did not get an equivalent one for Hisako's effects. The men blasted their clothes off in an explosion of muscle-bound vitality, but we got no such thing for Orie. Nertz.
Geh.
Oh yes! The voluptuous Sendawara twins are not going to disappoint with their foodgasms.
Orie and the other judges got caught in a bondage trap of delicious tastes with sickening smells.
Including the male judges in this sadomasochistic scene reminded me very much of the first episode with the bodyguards getting caught in a bacon fat splash of flavor with the unscrupulous lady developer.
I am so looking forward to what Orie's sister Natsume is going to show us! But I guess we'll have to finish up the top four placings in the B Block first.
