10 Second Anime - Ore Monogatari!! - Episode 21

Takeo discovers who has been writing Suna anonymous love letters.

Episode 21 - "Me and the Letter"

Heh.

This show has always been good at reinforcing continuity, so here we are, a month after last episode, and Takeo has taken White Day very seriously.

Nice! TAKEO baked RINKO cookies. They weren't perfect, but good enough for Rinko to accept. Well, she'd accept anything from Takeo, but they weren't terrible. It was also a good opportunity for Takeo to feel what Rinko feels every time she makes something for him and sees the happiness on his face.

Enough about those two. I mean, they're only the main love story in a show about love, but the most interesting supporting character is going to be the focus for the next couple of episodes.

Meet Yukika Amami, Suna's stalker for the last 10 years.

She fell in love with him in kindergarten during a dodge ball game, has been going to the same school as he and Takeo have, but has never spoken a word to him directly.

Being a stalker, and not a totally creepy one, she's already on a first name basis with Takeo and knows all about his girlfriend too.

Of course, Suna knew exactly who she was. Not the stalking, anonymous love letter writing part, but that she's been a schoolmate all this time.

Suna did the reverse of that dodge ball move to a goalie. He is good at dodging! And probably not just physically either.

Takeo picked up a new skill - hunting sense.

Knowing Takeo's character, it shouldn't be surprising that he could pick up on "killing intent," but I don't think Yukika had murderous thoughts. Maybe it was just the targeted focus she had on delivering an out-of-band letter.

Suna had diligently saved all those anonymous Valentine notes, so I'm sure he was interested in the mystery, plus the idea that there was a girl out there who was not being obvious about her infatuation like the other girls he ignored.

She wanted to write an actual confession note this year because she saw Takeo and Rinko being so happy together. She almost had enough courage...

Still, it didn't sit right with me that Takeo never noticed her presence before, but I guess the hunting intent was what was different this time around.

A small bit of a meh for unsuccessful ret-con. The above screencap is from Episode 4. There is no Yukika there! I believe the manga had already covered this part of the story before the anime began, so putting a little shadow there that far back should not have been too hard. Oh well. Missed opportunity.

I really liked how Yukika just blurted out her feelings when she finally got close to Suna. She may not be used to talking to normal guys (I guess Takeo doesn't count as normal), but she's pushing through her self-consciousness to be honest with Suna.

Suna is giving her a chance too. She hasn't said anything bad about Takeo yet, so maybe he's testing her for that. Perhaps he's also going to test her about not wanting anything in return. She's been saying that anonymously for ten years, so it might be nice to find out if she means it.

Takeo is still his bro. It looked like he was pushing them together because he wants Suna to be in a happy relationship too, but he made it clear that Suna's feelings were what was most important.

Next time: a double date at the zoo. I'm sure there's going to be plenty of jokes about Takeo and those wild animals.
