10 Second Anime - Ore Monogatari!! - Episode 20

Takeo looks forward to receiving Rinko's Valentine's Day chocolate. Other love connections might just be developing.

Episode 20 - "My Chocolate"

Heh.

It wouldn't be an episode of Ore Monogatari without some manufactured misunderstanding between Rinko and Takeo, so it's no surprise that the act of giving and receiving chocolate for Valentine's Day would be the source of minor drama.

But first, welcome to the world Maki Gouda!

Her big brother said she's chubby and has Saiyan hair. Can't argue with a  Dragon Ball reference... Maki's already learning how to make the proper facial expressions to fit right in with her family too.

Rinko has the reputation as a good sweets maker, so expectations were high for her to make something spectacular for Takeo. The added pressure in Takeo's mind, which Rinko never felt because he never told her anyway, was that this would be the first time he ever received chocolate from someone who likes him.

In Takeo's flashbacks, he discounted Suna's sister Ai, who did like him, and the old neighbor lady.

Nanako and Kurihara appeared to be doing well together. Kurihara, that smug bastard...

Suna had Takeo's back, like a true bro. The other dudes wanted to hang out with Rinko's friends and maybe score some obligatory chocolate. What is up with the girls at their school? None of those guys look too pathetic or weird. But Suna reminded them that they cockblocked him for a Christmas date, so how about giving it a rest?

Takeo's too nice of a guy, so that didn't fly. And Rinko is too nice of a girl, so she got her friends to join in a group outing and they all made chocolate together. It all worked out from a girly point of view.

Don't eat the chocolate in a restaurant, Takeo!

Love was in the air. Maybe all those boys and girls will get paired up after all.

It's rare to see Suna show a prolonged shock face, but when Rinko took off after the group date, even he wasn't expecting that.

After Takeo agonized over maybe not appreciating the chocolate cookies he already received thinking they might have been the true love chocolates he was anticipating, Rinko totally whammied him with a huge, uh, chocolate something. It was big! And sweet! Look at Suna's wry smile at how they shouldn't have even thought that Rinko would disappoint Takeo in her element of baking sweets.

Ha! Takeo was so overwhelmed by the big box of chocolate whatever, he forgot his part of the plan - the second kiss! Still, this blown kiss and catch was the most adorable thing I've seen all week.

Come on, Takeo! Blow us a smooch!

The Reappearance of Mariya Saijou. I thought for sure we saw her memorial picture and that was it for her, but no, she came back to give Takeo and Suna obligatory chocolate the next day. Her role here was to reinforce the side plot of Suna not finding a love interest even with all the chocolate he's received over the years. Takeo attracts good girls while Suna just hasn't "clicked" with anyone. Yet.

This show does everything on purpose, which is one of the things I love about it. It's so efficient in what it shows on screen. The flashback of Suna receiving special chocolate without a name attached and only asking him to like her back eschewing the White Day return gift, was paired with the chocolate left in his desk with the same note.

Hey, there's a girl with glasses. They're usually bookish. Suna's bookish. Is there a potential connection here with this girl we've never seen before? Of course! That's just how this show rolls! Now, things just might work out if she doesn't make fun of Takeo behind his back and if Rinko and Takeo don't go overboard trying to match them up. But, of course Rinko and Takeo are going to go overboard. That's how this show rolls too.
