10 Second Anime - Naruto Shippuuden - Episode 424



Naruto and Sasuke return to the fight with their new Sage powers. Madara goes after his remaining eye and Obito.

Episode 424 - "Rise Up"

Heh.

Did you know, not counting filler and movies, that the last time Sasuke and Naruto fought a common enemy together on television was in May 2004? That was against Itachi. Wow, 11 years goes by fast. I'm not counting Obito last year, since he wasn't really the enemy, plus they had the help of all the reanimated Hokage. They're on their own with Madara.

 

I'm still digesting that. 11 years. Oh, and Itachi turned out not to be a real enemy either. I guess if the villains live after they fight Sasuke and Naruto, they'll eventually become good guys. It happened to Gaara.

 

Naruto is 9 jinchurikis in one. Lava chakra rasen shuriken to cut down that tree. One-tail seal markings on a rasengan to trap Madara. It makes me think that Naruto didn't really heal Guy, but just sealed the 8 Gates from completing its course and draining the last of his life force.

 

When I saw Madara pull that lightning attack in the manga, I immediately thought of Star Wars and Emperor Palpatine. The anime compounded that by making it purple lightning too.

 

That voice coming out of the tree telling Madara what to do is the beginning of all the revelations about who the real villain is.

 

We're getting to the heebie-jeebies part of the story where everybody's plucking eyeballs out of people's faces. *shiver*

 

It's satisfying to see Naruto figure out all his new powers, because we've been following his development all these years. We have ideas of what to expect. The interesting part of this fight is seeing Sasuke do all sorts of stuff with his eyes. Because this is Naruto Shippuuden instead of Sasuke Shippuuden, the way the sharingan and the rinnegan function have never gotten very good explanations. I miss Itachi. He told us how things worked.

 

It's been a while, but we have a bona fide cliffhanger. All that stands between Madara and his full strength is Sakura. How's that going to work out?
