Raku works hard to open space in Hana's schedule so she has time to visit with her daughter Chitoge.
Heh.
Chitoge still looks cute without a hair ribbon, but she needs her charm point to complete the package.
Hana's mom disabused Raku of so many misconceptions and vice versa.
She always had presents for Chitoge, but things started getting awkward when she didn't have time to give them in person.
Her cigarettes are candy! That just killed me.
Comedy is always built around confusion and misperception, but real comedy makes sure those things unravel to the happy ending. Hana's awkwardness with her daughter made her think Chitoge didn't want to be with her. Her awkwardness also made Chitoge think she kept forgetting her age when it was just idle chitchat to disguise her nervousness. Things got resolved, thanks to the "fake" boyfriend.
Good way to distract us before revealing Chitoge without her ribbon. A good dose of zettai ryouiki softens the heart...
Raku can't keep up with all these simple explanations that totally paint Hana as a kind, caring person. All those presents? She doesn't smoke? She thinks Chitoge hates her?
Aho! (idiot!) That cleared things up on Hana's end, but it was still up to Raku to explain things to Chitoge.
Those outrageous reaction faces? Yup. They're related.
Maybe they move chartered flights ahead of schedule, but they damn sure don't do that on commercial flights.
Aww. A mother-daughter date on Christmas Eve. Too bad Raku's friends thought he and Chitoge were spending the night at the hotel. Shock faces all around.
After all that, Hana's revelations weren't over. She knew almost from the beginning about the fake relationship, but she also knows it's a bit more than "fake" if Raku's actions in helping Chitoge and her reconcile.
I don't know why they have to keep it a secret from Chitoge that she knows. I will say that mothers sharing a fun secret with a boyfriend is big points on the relationship acceptance scale. It's a sign of growing familial intimacy. Go, Raku, go!
Shock! Hana actually had some information that advanced the overall plot! There's a book that was the inspiration for the red ribbon, which Chitoge wanted because Raku liked it so much. And! The book was also the inspiration for the pendant and Onodera still has this book!
The grand exit in a SHAFT show requires a grand head tilt.
Oh, hey. Chitoge themed End Credits. Took them long enough to tie a blond girl who likes to wear blue to Alice in Wonderland. If Raku is the Rabbit, who's going to be the Mad Hatter or the Cheshire Cat?
Raku got Chitoge a great Christmas present, so what is she going to get him in return? That lap pillow doesn't count because he was asleep. Also, I hope Chitoge didn't sit in the puddle of drool he was making on the couch. That would have ruined a nice moment.
