Yowamushi Pedal - Grande Road - Episode 11
Hakone and Sohoku all regroup at the front. Arakita uses up all his power and falls behind.
Heh.
Nooo! Arakita got a death montage for dropping behind. It wasn't very surprising considering how Manami and Onoda had to catch him after they blew past Hiroshima and then Midousuji told Ishigaki that the most active one at this point in the stage would be the first to drop back. At least Arakita gave his last spark in pushing his team past the sprint point line.
Hiroshima must have been really punching above their weight if even the Sohoku and Hakone guys they passed earlier made it to the front before they did.
Arakita knows talent when he sees it. He called Onoda and Manami "wonder boys."
Manami has no fear of Arakita the Wolf.
Onoda, is still Onoda.
I understand the frustration, but don't do this to your bike.
That's the wrong kind of "bike throw." Although, from watching the pros throw their broken bikes at the ground, Arakita has good form.
Arakita has other talents as well.
Impressions? He actually put a crack in "stone face" Fukutomi.
Hmm.
This was a transitional episode where we've gotten halfway through the stage, the major players have regrouped, but one powerful engine has been lost along the way. Arakita burned lots of matches by breaking out of the peloton, catching Hiroshima, and then finally putting them away. It's not a surprise that he had to go into survival mode after making sure Manami rejoined the bunch at the front. Arakita, RIP. Wait, that was another anime that killed main characters off.
Sohoku and Hakone are pushing the pace, while Kyoto is just following wheels as their supposed alliance with Hiroshima didn't happen. The drama is far from over as we don't yet know how all the other riders are feeling towards the end of the race. Hakone is one big engine down, but they've still got two sprinters. We haven't heard much from Izumida since the first day, so I'm curious to know how Andy and Frank are doing.
Cycling Porn.
We got some good looks at Shimano shoes, Manami's Look, Arakita's Bianchi, and Ishigaki's Raleigh. We also some personal pedaling styles from the crazy Makishima "dancing," to the sway of Arakita's power push.
Again, we see the stupid handing off of musette bags as the kids run alongside the riders. Not like how the pros do it at all. Just stand there and don't cause a disturbance in the road.
