Amagi Brilliant Park - Episode 8
Using a Seiya costume, the Amagi crew stand in for him at school while he is sick. A comedy of errors ensues, involving romance, jealousy and hidden truths.
Hmm.
The only important things I got out of this full-on comedy episode was that there is extensive work going on at the stadium, Sylphy is playing with fireworks for some reason, and the Elemental Fairies are still working hard on their new show. I'm still expecting a huge blowout for Amagi Brilliant Park to meet its attendance goal.Isuzu is either jealous or sad that Seiya is getting along so well with Princess Latifa. I'm not sure which one yet, because we have two plot threads going on here: the frail health of Latifa and the growing feelings Isuzu has for Seiya. Isuzu also just saw how girls find Seiya attractive no matter what his actions seem to be and might be wishing she could be as expressive as those other girls.
The teaser for next episode has Muse freaking out over her choreography. As the title says, not enough teamwork.
Heh.
As I thought, an Isuzu disguise made for big laughs.I notice now that they made sure we didn't see the top of Isuzu's head in the teaser, otherwise we would have seen that big zipper pull. They made a nice recurring gag out of it too.
"What's that thing on top of your head?"
"Don't worry about it."
And that worked, over and over!
When Kimura, Kanae's actual crush showed up at the end with his hand on top of his head, I knew it had to be Seiya. And when he belted out that megalomaniacal laughter, that was the punchline for the whole farce. Just good stuff all the way through.
I guess we can take Seiya's word for it that he's a "perfect 10." If all this trouble at school happened just by Seiya actually talking to girls, even with his sudden changes in personality, think of the damage he could do as an actual lady killer. Lucky for those girls, he only really loves himself.
Well, that's how he used to be.
I loved that Kanae was the character KyoAni chose to do its signature lean-in move.
Tiramie is a total playa! It's also a good thing for him that the moles couldn't, ah, fill out the Isuzu costume in the right places, otherwise Isuzu might have been angrier than she was.
Isuzu rage is now a thing.
What I didn't get, but of course it added to the comedy, is why the mascots and Isuzu didn't tell each other about the romance comedy breaking out around them. It just shows that these guys really are from another land, and that their frame of reference, though similar, is just slightly off.
At least they know that Tiramie's perspective is all the way off. Isuzu's warning didn't take, though. It was C Girl (Shiina) who came to the rescue of Seiya's reputation, such as it was, by letting him know what was going on. Leave it to the genius to defuse everything with a Kimura suit. Those moles work fast. Left unanswered is why C Girl cared so much. Something to pay attention to in the upcoming episodes.
The Elemental Fairies, bless their hearts, gave us some side gags.
Earth Fairy Koboli has to break out a spade to show off her power. Hahaha! I hope there's a big payoff to all those jokes at her expense, because we still haven't seen what her power looks like. Children, and Sylphy, should not play with fire. I hope they get there dance act together. I want to be impressed!
