Fun with GPS Overlays
GPS data overlays make my daily ride look a video game. I finally played around with my camera's video editing software (it still doesn't compress worth a damn, but I have my own software for that) and imported the corresponding GPS data file. After some time adjustments, you can see what one of the overlay templates look like. As you watch the video, you can also see why I prefer to use a normal cycle computer for my speedometer.
Cool! Today no bike for me so I rode by proxy on your bars. Speed from dedicated units doesn't wander nearly as much, if the speed sensor stops working (e.g. it gets knocked and is too far away from the magnet) it's often the case I don't notice until several rides later.
ReplyDeleteHave you played with suffervision as well?
That suffervision stuff looks pretty much like a browser-based version of the Garmin's video editing suite when adding in the gpx file. Overall, it was kind of fun, and the different overlays even had stuff for pilots in airplanes. I've only got position and time, so my choice of overlays are limited, but adding in all the power, cadence, etc. would be really cool. I'll just play with this amount of data for now.
