Because of Tony Martin's single mountain point on Stage 2, he had a busy day on the podium after his solo breakaway victory on Stage 9. He had presentations for the stage victory, the Red Tag for most combative rider, and King of the Mountains Polka Dot Jersey. Martin, the world time trial champion, picked up 17 mountain points on the stage, to lead the overall Mountains competition by one point over his temporary breakaway companion Alessandro de Marchi and Blel Kadri, the Mountains leader from the stage before.
Even with a Frenchman losing a jersey the day before Bastille Day, Kadri should be consoled by the fact his compatriot Tony Gallopin pulled on the Yellow Jersey by finishing with a large chase group ahead of the main peloton.
