The first week back on the bike after taking a whole week off is always interesting to me. I get to see how bad my lungs are on the first day, and see how close I get to making it a puke-day. Successfully avoided, this time around. My cardio didn't like the extra adrenaline until about the third day, and by the end of the week, I was getting back to my base fitness from the end of June.
The next 12 weeks is a bit of a reset. I'll be repeating some of my workouts from the 2nd 3-week block from January and February, but this will be on a bigger gear going much faster. The goal is to set a peak fitness that will hopefully be the same as base fitness next year. I'm also interested in seeing how much of the weight I've gained since last year I'll actually get to keep. The Summer heat usually carves off all the extra water weight, and I've gained about 3 pounds since last year. I actually don't know what my ideal weight is supposed to be, so I'm going to be using whatever I end up with as the weight to aim for next year as well.
