Kiriko gets on a boat. The Shinsengumi go on the attack. The foreigners also attack Nagasaki. Keiichiro wakes up.

The pirate Marika shows up again, if only to provide some salty spray for rainbows. I guess she doesn't get airsick, just seasick. And she has a name for our colorful stranger: Ryoma. Who knows if that's his real name.

The Shinsengumi appear to be that good. Hyogo is all messed up, but Soji is still nice and neat. If it weren't for whatever disease she has, probably tuberculosis, she would have won that sword fight in style. I think Hyogo would fight better if she didn't constrain herself. Unleash those sweater puppies! It's important to breathe properly and deeply for any kind of bodily exertion...

This Ryoma guy really does have game. Too bad Kiriko isn't stressing about being in love with Keiichiro; she's stressing out about her conflicted priorities for her mission to bring the Tokogawa heir back to Edo.

It's a small world after all...

Kiriko really didn't know what a globe was in the 1870's? Maybe she was too busy learning that Flower Splash.

Hmm.

We appear to be heading into a whole bunch of action, because Kiriko's little vacation cruise provided everyone with a lot of back story to set up a three-sided conflict. Plus, Keiichiro in his fever meets all three Onigami. Does he perhaps see a way of uniting them all at the end of his vision before he wakes up?

Ryoma tells Kiriko that he was actually on board those Black Ships when Shigeyoshi attacked them in his Onigami. From his recollection, Takemikazuchi had red eyes as like a fully awakened Onigami, so maybe Shigeyoshi wasn't even in control, or perhaps that's the way he liked it, so he could go on a total rampage.

With Keiichiro presumably out of action, the foreigners think it's a good time to attack Nagasaki and get an Onigami for themselves. It appears that Japan will have to unite to repel the foreign invaders. But will it be under Shigeyoshi or Keiichiro? Duh, like you have to ask.
