How Many Reasons Do You Need...

...To watch how much you eat and to exercise more? There was one more, but I forgot what it was. No, really, a study published in Neurology has established a correlation between obesity in middle-aged people and diminuition of memory skills. Fat people couldn't play the memory game as well as healthier people. Before I continue on, I will address this politically correct obese group movement which is trying to spin that one can be healthy and fat. The answer is no, you are not healthy. Eat less and exercise more, before heart disease, diabetes, vascular disease, and stroke find you sooner than later. Now, this study found only a correlation between obesity and the poor results from tests on memory, attention, and learning. The causation has not been established, but the researchers suggest several avenues for continued research. There might be a cardiovascular link: perhaps bloodflow to the brain is restricted enough that brain cells slowly sicken. There also might be some new way that the hormone leptin, produced by fat cells, affects the brain. Whatever the case, the study showed, that if you are fat, there will be a noticeable drop-off in your mental skills within 5 years. Maybe we can remember this fact as one more bit of motivation to do twenty minutes of sweating at least three times a week.
