Koyomi Araragi requested Yotsugi Ononoki watch over his little sister, Tsukihi, the phoenix monster. Shaft returns to the small screen with signature head tilts and "peace, peace" signs.
Araragi still comes by to visit Ononoki and give her ice cream when Tsukihi is at school. But one day, Tsukihi forgot something and found Ononoki eating that ice cream! Ononoki tried to play dead and doll-like, but Tsukihi didn't believe her. She doused Ononoki with oil and threatened to light her on fire!
Ononoki saved themselves from fire, but she had to concoct a fantastic tale that she was a magical girl. Tsukihi ate that story up!
Tsukihi's odd rules about her phoenix monster properties include an amnesia reset button. So, to help fulfill these conditions, Ononoki asked Nadeko to draw a slug monster for the magical girls to defeat. Unfortunately, Tsukihi's maximum misfortune turned the slug monster into a fiery disaster.
Thankfully, the "god of this town" descended to save the day! Mayoi Hachikuji, kamimashita! Sorry, she messed up. So, Mayoi helped Ononoki reset Tsukihi. Did it work? Oops! She caught her doll eating ice cream again! Ononoki's life is repetitive suffering.
