BREAK.21 — "Switches and Humming"
Meh.
Kuroda's masochism origin story finally showed up. Uh, thanks. A basketball player's revenge elbow started it all. Sigh.
Cycling Porn.
- We see lots of loving looks at Kuroda's Kuota.
- More proof of ancient Yowamushi Pedal comes from road cyclists training on rollers. Only track cyclists warm up and cool down on rollers these days. Fixed trainers for roadies have more options for resistance, gradients, and power recording.
- A crash usually turns brake hoods inward, so we often see cyclists banging them back into shape. If they didn't jump on their bikes too soon, the best way to straighten hoods after an incident is to lay the handlebars on each side, then stand on the shifter and brake assemblies.
- Yowamushi Pedal tells the last battle between BMC and Look bike brands.
Heh.
Flashbacks to Kuroda's depression after losing out to Manami for selection to the Hakone Inter-High team. Manami finished second if you remember. Kuroda carried resentment toward Manami. Arakita wanted Kuroda on the team instead of the airheaded Manami, but that was before he saw the killer in Manami. Hakone returned from their loss to Sohoku, but they weren't sad. They knew THE NATIONAL CHAMPION OF JAPAN beat them. All of them! Last year's team trusted the next generation to defeat Onoda. Whoops! It's down to Onoda and Manami again!
Kuroda's masochism started after an opponent knocked him down in a minor race. He used his wounds and pain as motivation to win. And we're caught back up to the last episode when Manami and Onoda started their battle over the final two kilometers. 1400 meters to go!
Uh oh. Onoda needs reassurance to win. Where has the "Hime, Hime" song been this season? The crowd cheers for "The Mountain King." But Manami feels the wind changing. His wings are ready! But Onoda's song is coming. Worry, Manami. Be worried! Sohoku's Mountain King is smiling and singing!
One kilometer to go, and Yowamushi Pedal must take a side trip as a cliffhanger. Iinchou needs knowledge of how to root for Manami. She's wearing Onoda's Best Boy hat! Mrs. Onoda loves that style. I wonder why! Where did they meet before? Find out in the next episode!
