One of the Guardian androids, whom Blade repeatedly obliterated whenever he visited the ancient Mother database without authorization, sought revenge on him. Blade's female friends expressed shock at how he destroyed the cute robot without hesitation or mitigation. He said everything was okay because the Guardian would repair and redownload its memory. Sure enough, the android came back but then resembled a cute girl. Iona, the former 10NA, explained how she hoped Blade would hold back his destructive attacks if she appeared as a female. Blade did not discriminate based on appearances!
The girls immediately took Iona's side for trying to put one over on the "superorganism" known as Blade. They realize that Blade ruthlessly attacks Iona because he knows she can't die. Her memory and core personality backs up remotely, and her body fragments reassemble themselves. Their solution? Iona disconnected herself from Mother and stored her core inside her body. Blade stopped hitting so hard after he learned that and let Iona have her victory.
After her victory, Iona should have been happy but became listless and unmotivated instead. Why? Because Mother canceled her login and wouldn't let her reconnect to the central database. It wasn't because she disconnected herself but from the terabytes of complaints she submitted right before she became an autonomous android. Worse, without a central authority monitoring her, Iona would self-destruct! Blade thought he could bypass that safety mechanism by transferring command authority. Iona chose Blade as her new master, but a new problem arose. Sophie hated that Iona, an emotionless character, shared Blade as a Master. Their character types were the same! Blade solved their rivalry (and Iona's not-quite-rescinded self-destruct command) by bullying Mother into taking back Iona's login credentials. He arrived at the end of Iona's farewell party, obliterating Earnest's clothes. Same old, same old. We will see if Sophie and Iona keep up their fetish dressing.
