Thea's team had to pass Klaus's test to join him to kill or capture Klaus's archenemy, Corpse. Thea used her talent (looking into another's eyes to know their desires) to increase the teamwork between the independent-minded Monika and the oddball members, Erna and Annette. The prologue showed how successful they were. But as Thea's team relaxed in enemy territory afterward, a woman claiming to be Annette's mother hugged her. Now what?
