Bertrand wanted to help the village but couldn't play any musical instruments. Instead, Yukito sent her to contact Dakini for a sensitive mission. Unfortunately, Dakini used her to extract a tiny bit of revenge on Yukito before their meeting. That's if you call attempted reverse rape "harmless revenge." Bertrand felt so embarrassed by her female horniness when she still identified as a man in her mind that she ran off before Yukito met with Dakini.

Dakini also regretted her old job of taking away children's happiness, so Yukito found the right buttons to press. While Yukito and Mitama kept Gaia busy practicing the drums, Dakini contacted a few of Gaia's children as they played by the river. They appeared to be normal playful kids. But the older ones were suspicious and paranoid. They also could summon Strange Beasts like Gaia! What was Gaia's goal with these children?
