Shiori spent much quality time with Jirou in the morning and in the kitchen. Kamo informed Jirou he could capitalize on this momentum at the Test of Courage that night. He could rig it for him to pair with Shiori because he's the younger brother of the restaurant! Kamo enlisted the help of Mei to ensure success by letting him know the results of the girls' random draws.
Jirou requested Kamo rig the draw so Akari could be with Minami. Akari took her shot, but Minami told her he was already in love with someone. He was still not over his unrequited love for a married person. His brother's wife? Akari had the most honest rejected love confession she could have hoped for. Minami thinks of Akari as his little sister, so he wants to help her try for happiness with Jirou. What are her chances?
Akari didn't count on Shiori getting way ahead of her. Jirou's first kiss with Akari was for a mock-married couple kiss goodbye. Shiori's kiss with Jirou in the summer rain is way more authentic and emotional.
