After Liella won the regional Love Live tournament, Natsumi immediately saw the results in rising popularity. Keke learned that their friendly rivals, the defending champions Sunny Passion, did not make the cut! Solo idol Margarete Wien beat them. That girl then taunted Kanon. Margarete sees Liella as her most substantial competition, but it's not clear whether it's only because Kanon is carrying the group.
In the background, Sumire worries that Keke would be sent back home if Liella did not beat Margarete. She decided to play the bad guy and suggested that the first-years sit out the remaining rounds. After much emotional consultation, everyone in Liella chose to perform as the Magic Nine. That meant Chisato designed a training program for the younger members to catch up to the veterans. Look at that gleeful smile hiding Chisato's sadism!
