After Sayb recovered his childhood memories, he rushed over to Zero because he remembered that she was his aunt! She won't let him call him "Auntie," though. They talked about his father, Thirteen, and how they all have similar eyes. Then she had Sayb practice his magic flow regulation because he was scared of melting his friends' faces as he did to the witch hunter he killed. Zero emphasized that Sayb needed to focus on his immediate task amid chaos. Hearing his friends cry out in pain should not interrupt his magic casting.
The chaos that distracted Sayb happened in the infirmary, where a captured witch hunter tried to escape. The Tyrant and the Priest handled restraining and interrogating the boy that brought Disaster Remnants near the village. The village's school teacher, Miss Hearthful, delivered lunch. But she also presented a lesson to the Tyrant about fear and trust. The short, busty lady told him that no one in the village would ever be afraid of him. First, there were too many witches nearby, ready to dismember him. Second, Miss Hearthful had already recognized that the Tyrant wasn't as cruel as he wanted to convey. Holt still had trauma from seeing his work firsthand, so she volunteered to be his shadow.
