I've wanted to see this battle animated for years, ever since I saw the grainy, indecipherable manga panels. All three heroes wanted to sacrifice themselves for the others, but Wild, Hawk's older brother, sacrificed himself first.
In a string of battles over sixty years, Ban learned how to reverse his Snatch power into Gift. That was necessary since the Demon King's Ruler power was merely a form of Inversion. Meliodas learned to stop being afraid of his strongest power. We'll need to wait for a more dramatic scene to learn how it works.
Ban returned through Hawk's eye, which was how the Demon King spied on Meliodas. He quickly rescued Elaine, healed her, and gave up his immortality for a life together with her.
