#73 – “Savagery”
Hmm.
Shingeki no Kyojin still makes Eren’s stern demeanor with his best friends a mystery. We’ll need to see how his meeting with Zeke in Marley turned out to change his attitude and how he learned so much about Titan Powers and the Eldian clans which served the royal family. But could the Eren we know before the time skip treat Mikasa this way? He warned Armin about the feelings and memories of Bertholdt for Annie as the previous Colossal Titan. How does he know the distance between his royal bodyguard Mikasa Ackerman and him isn’t influencing him the same way?
Let’s hope Shingeki no Kyojin addresses the disparity in personality in future episodes, but there’s not much time left in the season to deal with it. The important thing is that Levi is swinging his blades around cutting up Titans again! There was even rock and roll music as he fought, just like the first season! I enjoyed it, but then I remembered how terrible this current season has been with all the ugly faces, ugly music, ugly writing, and ugly acting. Thankfully, there will be much more action in the final two episodes. That’s after Zeke finishes all his yacking about his past. Let’s get to Mikasa and Levi slashing Titans up!
Heh.
Eren doesn’t answer the question immediately of whether Zeke and Yelena convinced him to join their plot. Eren claims he is free, but the way he said it makes it sound like he’s answering the question as if he’s thought about it for years. Eren said he had a long talk in Marley with Zeke, who knows way more about Titans than the Marleyans do.
Armin has been visiting Annie because of Bertholdt’s feelings. Mikasa is an Ackerman, who were the clan that protected the King. She imprinted on Eren when he rescued her from kidnappers and now reflexively keeps him safe. It also explains her and Levi’s amazing strength. Eren claims to have always hated Mikasa because she acts like a slave. Eren made Mikasa cry. The old Eren would never do that. But he’s not wrong about the Ackermans, as she proved when she stopped Armin from hitting Eren. Oh, finally. Armin got his lick in. Eren then destroyed Armin.
Time for Zeke to have fun with his wine. Run away! Roar! Time for Levi to get to work. Interesting. People far away still felt Zeke’s roar, but they didn’t turn into Titans. Ah, crap. Even Falco. Zeke is smart enough, but he’s dumb when it comes to how the Scouts work. Levi has been killing his friends, either by ordering them on missions, or by the edge of blades ever since he was a child.
Ha. Zeke has three Titans with him. Make that two, no, one, oh, none! Get him, Levi! Guh. Zeke uses Titan body parts to throw at Levi. Doesn’t work.
Ugh, who cares about Flock starting his revolution? I don’t. Fun question from a cadet about why they should train to kill Titans now instead of learning how to shoot guns. Well, they’re going to need that knowledge soon enough.
Levi and Zeke have a nice quiet chat. Levi needs to keep hacking Zeke up, otherwise he’ll heal enough to transform again. Great. Next time is a flashback episode of how Zeke ended up in a horse carriage, enduring limb-chopping and pinned by a rocket grenade.
